Just wondering.

I was just wondering, how many new Mint coins do you buy in a given year? For example, do you buy 5 new state quarters, and if so do you buy both the mint and the proof sets? Each coin would count as 1, e.g. 1 circulation strike and 1 proof State quarter would count as 2. IF YOU BUY MULTIPLES OF A COIN FOR FLIPPING/SELLING THEN JUST COUNT THE ONES YOU ARE PLANNING ON KEEPING FOR YOURSELF.

FWIW I tend to buy zero in any given year, although I may buy the TJ spouse coin this year.

TexasT... All that for you?!!! As I mentioned at the start, only count the ones you are more or less planning on keeping for yourself.

EDITED TO ADD: BTW, Mea Culpa. This is the first poll I've created so I didn't know how things would format. Obviously my questions qualifiers are below the poll, so that is my fault.

Since 1970, I get 5 Proof and 5 uncirculated sets per year and starting with 1992 I added 5 silver PS to go along with it.

I set aside at least 10 or 15 nice gems I see each year and sometimes
substantially more. These are just coins found in circulation obtained at
face value rather than "bought". I rarely am willing to actually buy any
coins until they are at least three years old. Even mint products don't much
interest me until they are a little older.

Go figure. The big reason is that supply/ demand/ quality/ and availability
are complete unknowns until they've been around awhile. Prices can be
much higher and hence the item unaffordable, but at least I miss those that
are much lower. Even the effort of setting coins aside at face value can be
wasted if all you have is common coins afterward.

It's a shame I haven't been able to find dimes recently. These are "sure"
    winners.

1 silver proof set (14 coins) + 1 regular proof set (14 coins) + 1 uncirculated set (20 coins) = 48 coins. That works out to be $1.95/coin (including shipping).

Nothing wrong with that price in mint condition.

Last year I spent some money, 10- 20th ASE sets, 50- 06W ASE singles, 40- 06 Mint sets.

This year 25- 07 ASE's. Now I'm just buying bullion from AMPEX, a lot cheaper than ASE's.
