I guess they fixed the smooth edge error problem.

With different reverse designs it's sure to circulate!

I bet our friends in Ecuador and South America are happy to hear this; something to replace the SBAs and SACs we sent them! as for circulating here, not a chance.

Should double the circulation of the Sacagawea dollar, from 50 per year to 100.

So this will only increase the amount of coins in the uncirculated set if they decide to make Satins of these?

It will be our new ***"Sakakawea"***.....not Sacagawea....

So does this mean they will continue the edge lettering on the pres. dollars?
  • Probably. The Senate has not acted on the bill removing the edge lettering from the Presidential dollars and I think they are just letting the bill die. I think that mostly posturing by some House memebers for the good religious folks back in their home district.

OK ... I'll step up for some ridicule. I think it's a great idea and I am looking forward to seeing the new designs. I like the dollar coins, and I use them regularly. I wish others would stop criticizing for no good reason and just start using the darn things. They even look really cool once they have a bit of circulation wear on them. I say keep 'em coming!

Buffalo is right -- let the coins roll, I would not mind seeing the paper dollar go away and replaced with more Sacs/Prez [whatever] as long as they keep tripping up and making error/varieties... I like the goldies.

It will be great for the coin collecting hobby and bashing them doesn't make any sense. There's no telling how many new collectors are born every time a new coin is introduced into circulation. Just look at what the state quarters and the '04/'05 Jeffs have done. I should know...it rekindled my interest in the hobby!image

I'm curious what exactly will be lettered on the edge. The Sac obv already has "IGWT", "Liberty", and the date, so it wouldn't make sense to move them. Moving "United States of America" or "One Dollar" to the edge would cause problems, so perhaps only "E Pluribus Unum" will move.

As opposed to the usual posturing for the bad irreligious folk back home I take it.

All that white man lingo has to be removed from the native american coin don't you know since he speaks with forked toung. Instead, something like 'you call it corn-we call it maize" maybe or "cherokee nation will return, will return, will return".
