Help with identifying this coin please.

At first I thought this was a blob of copper and it sat in a paper bowl I have on my desk for months. The other day I was going through the bowl and I took a much closer look at this. Low and behold I saw a face on the obverse and some marking on the reverse. The coin is only about 3/8's of an inch across and was real hard to take a photo of. I know this coin is well worn, but any help you can give whould be very appreciated. These boards have NEVER let me down, but I know this is a though one.
