Depends on the coin, but overall, I prefer black.

I think a black or dark background makes a lustrous silver coin look best.
I use white for my circulated dimes, gives a more accurate color, I think.

and have since settled on black.

Any trueviews in my registry set will just have to stand out more.

How about shades of gray? And texture? This was early, and the PCGS label is too big, but besides that, I like gray,too.

I spent some time trying to decide which background I liked - still not sure, but anything except black or gray seems to be distracting.

I also tried a lot of colors and finally picked grey - black was the 2nd choice.
