Will PCGS return the Mint issued capsule??

I've never submitted a coin in the Mint issued capsule. If I submit a coin for grading will they send back the actual clear plastic capsule the coin was in?? I'd rather not handle the coins directly myself which is why I want to submit them untouched but I'd like to keep the capsule should I decide to display another coin or crack out and return this one to its orginal place someday.

Thanks in advance,
Roger

Yes they will, but ONLY if you state so on your submission form, ask for them to return it to you.

Sometimes. You must ask and pay extra. SOmetimes you get everything back, sometimes you get all but the capsules.

I asked for them and did NOT get them back.

On my last submission, I submitted all the coins in airtite holders. I didn't ask for them back, but they put them in the blue PCGS box that held the graded coins........Rick

Last time I requested my five reverse proof ASE capsules back and only received two back plus a gold Eagle capsule and I hadn't submitted any Eagles. If you really want the capsules it's best that you submit the coins in flips.

  • I don't think you have to ask anymore... my last 3 or 4 submissions in the last 5 months have all come back with the empty capsules without asking for them back.

Sometimes you get them whether you ask for them or not.

I have asked for them back and did not receive them. I did not ask for them back and got them back anyway. I still can't figure it out.
