PayPal charges fees to the SELLER when the BUYER should be the party that gets charged.

It doesn't matter who is actually charged the fees. The buyer would just bid less and the seller would receive less.

Not preventing the sale of counterfeit coins, mostly from China, especially Trade dollars and Seated dollars.

Requiring the use of Paypal (only?) for new sellers, which is IMO a violation of antitrust law.

Facilitating shill bidding by hiding bidder ID's and allowing private auctions. If ID's have to be hidden, why not open them up after the item has sold, so if shill bidding occurs there is a record of it?

Allowing bid retractions to be used to "smell out" another bidder's top bid.

    Allowing feedback extortion.

Allowing clueless sellers to offer garbage coins for $25K, $100K, or $1 million when the item offered is worth less than $5.00

Allowing sales of mystery lots, where the only true mystery is why anyone bids on them.

Allowing sales of proof sets in "sealed envelopes" where the coins have been removed, examined, and the envelope resealed or replaced with a new envelope.

Allowing the word "ESTATE" to be used in any auction.

Same with the words "LOOK" or "LQQK".

  • Ebay by company policy-does not want to hear suggestions from their members. I wrote them regarding the subcategory under US Coins-dollars-ASE Proofs. They either need to eliminate the word proof or add a category for mint state coins. There reply was the following:
eBay welcomes comments from members of our Community, and we appreciate
your suggestions. This type of communication helps us improve our
    services and meet your needs.

However, our company policy doesn't allow us to accept suggestions
unless we specifically request them. We hope that you understand that
this policy can avoid future misunderstandings if new products,
services, and features developed internally by eBay employees seem
similar or even identical to a member's idea.

    ***Important***
Any comments or materials (including questions, technical or creative
suggestions, and ideas) that you send to us aren't considered
confidential or proprietary. To learn more about eBay's policy on

Seems pretty closed minded to me.

Charging the credit card fee rate for non-credit card PayPal purchases to sellers who elect to use PayPal. Nice penalty? It is not assessed if you don't go that extra mile, but are limited to only a few PayPal sales each year. That sort of discourages one from selling more or accepting PayPal. At the very least, it penalizes eBay's better sellers. How f'ed up is that?

You right..with Ebay stock at $$ 39..why listen to the serfs( sellers ).. or commom folkimage
  • i vote for ebay, it is perfect by no means but it is one of the best places in the market for a bargain...IF you know what you are buying
  • It creates the opportunity for people to sell to a huge number of buyers and then it isn't absolutely perfect and then it gets complained about and then someone creates a satirical thread about eBay complaining and then some people use it to complain some more and never realize the irony therein. The End.

my mom is in love with ebay and they are getting married this weekend!

    rant off.
  • My biggest grievance is that this site has become a proxy for injustice aimed at Ebay coin players. I wish they (this forum) would just open an Ebay section so I would never have to see another Ebay post. image

As a matter of fact, I now boycott Ebay posts and refuse to take part in them for fear of encouraging the trend.... Wait a minute...
