Bahama 1974

A nice little set I picked up a few years ago. Maybe not special, but I like it

Nice Bahamian proof set Wayne! The Franklin Mint produced some very nice looking high quality coins over the years for collectors.

I've not seen that 5 Dollar design before.

They are beautiful coins. The $2 Flamingo is my favorite in the set. They are often sold for melt or below melt at Ebay auction. If a person bought a few years ago, and bought near melt value, that person has a nice profit because of the silver price rise. A nice way to own a bit of silver, a lot prettier than 90% circulated U. S. coins, though a bit harder to sell.

I wonder if those 70s Franklin Mint bits will ever catch on again. I have noticed that some of the countries have appreciated recently.

    Well, just Love coins, period.

    I don't buy for profit.
    Maybe I should but I don't.
I buy what catches my eye and grabs me.

Wayne - I have always loved the look and the quality of the Franklin Mint's Caribbean country coins - very much overlooked, I believe.

I have long been fond of the Bahamian 15-cent piece.

I just sold an identical one. A 1974, and a '72, as well. Those Franklin Mint-produced sets are gorgeous, and well-packaged.

Me too. And the modern British 20p, as well. Something about those just grabs me. The unusual shapes help, but I like the designs, too.

I can remember spending those 15c pieces when I lived in the Bahamas.
