How Was the Heritage SCD Sale?

... I heard that you could pick up buckets of them for $20. After slabbing costs, that makes the SCD itself worth about $5. I guess the marketing push was less than successful.

On the flip side, I heard one gold one hammered @ $63k ... that is HUGE!

Like I said in another thread, the timing of the auction sucked. Having an auction of the middle of the workday had to have provented many people from bidding online (I couldn't bid on a few things I wanted). I'm sure that hurt the price.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

As a child, you must of bin one to get under your parents skin so much that they sent you to a private school. This would explain alot!

Apparently, they had a few auctions running concurrently as well. I do not understand why they do that ...

  • a bunch of the better pieces looked overgraded to me. look at the rims on some of the pan pac pieces... the overall quality was not terrific in my opinion.

i am quite pleased by this news. it means the money has done
    dried up ;-)

maybe i can get some rare coins now without so much competition.

(i went a private school too)... where they taught us how to
calculate the lowest common denominator instead of teaching
    to the lowest common denominator.

    heheh

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by buckets. Good stuff got really good money. Average stuff got average to low money. I sold 65 pieces. The best stuff went much higher than I thought and the average stuff went much lower. My stuff was split about 50% best/average. This means that I did ok, not exceptional. The money was certainly there for the best pieces.

Can your source provide one instance of where an individual slabbed SCD sold for $20 or less, let alone buckets of them? Unless Heritage has falsified their realized prices, the facts don't support your contention.
