Gold Rush Gallery is selling an 1838-D half eagle described as possibly being cleaned or that it has "pocket shine". How does one differentiate cleaning vs. "pocket shine"?

"pocket shine"? = "still polished"

I'm not sure about that exact coin, but all my pocket pieces have a fairly polished look. It might have been polished, but it might not have. It does have some dirt on it after all.

the "fact" of the matter is that the coin being sold is "polished harshly".
