Has anyone had anything go RIGHT for them lately?

This has to be one of the most negative front pages I've ever seen. Whining about PSA, eBay sellers, over-grading, under-grading, customer service, etc.

That said, does anyone have any GOOD news to share? Like a recent purchase on eBay that went well???

Let me start.

I just picked up this card on eBay a few weeks ago and it arrived in only a few days, well packaged, and just as described!!

    A few weeks ago I posted a message here asking my homies...lol extra basketball cards? Please don't burn them, send them to me. My sister is a teacher in Cincinnati and she uses the cards as an incentive to get the kids to do better......get an A get a shaq? LMMFAO. I guess a B is a Kobe............anyway some great guys sent me some great stuff for the munchkins and I think that is great. These kids have no idea of the values except that the cards mean something to them. Last year, one of the kids cried when he won a game used card of his favorite player. I bet he keeps it. Mike

    i finished my 50 bowman football set 100 % # 9 on the registry,now i just gota upgrade it forever,but it done!!!!!!!!!! 50 bowman fb #9 and need upgrades if you got anything i need


    if i could get rid ofa couple of the 5s to 8s, id have #8 spot, my chuck bednarik sucks its a psa 4 lol-that would prob do it but none are on ebay

    In the last few weeks, I've gotten some 80's wax and vending boxes. Solid pulls (although nothing screaming gem mint)...

    -84 fleer cello - Mattingly and just about every star

    -85 Topps football cellos (3) - Marino and Elway in the same pack! That was cool. Also Fryar and Munchak (maybe a mint 9 fryar)

    -87/88 Fleer basketball (2 packs) - Two ewings, erving, isiah thomas, bird sticker

    -83 Topps vending - Gwynn (probably a mint 9)

    -90 leaf series 1 - 3 Sosa's, 3 Griffeys

    I've got an 83 Topps football box coming (hopefully tomorrow!). That'll be fun to rip.

    I finished the T9 set, got within 3 cards of the '57 Topps basketball set, and picked up an uncut '64 baseball sheet.
    Plus I have had about 18 great email exchanges with some collecting friends and the legendary King Kellogg is staying with us this week, so lots of positive card stuff happening.
    As negative as this board is this week it's nothing compared to the fighting on Net 54.

    Hi metalmike,

    sorry -- I sold my last 5 Willie Greene PSA 9s for an average of $375 each (not bad for a $3 investment/card) over the last couple months; I currently do not have any in PSA 9. I have a couple PSA 10s and a few PSA 8s but I'm hanging on to those for now.

    I actually have a few more raw that I could sell you for $125 if you're interested. That is my raw price for them, when I can find them, and they do sell quickly.

    animosity? nah the only reason modern cards are collected is the team factor. yep- a psa whatever Willie Greene is worth a buck at best. Keep the graded cards- in 100 years a willie greene refractor will still be a common no matter how you try to Hype it. I'd pay a buck for a trimmed one but 125 for a raw one LMMFAO.

    Mike, I do agree with you that modern cards are pretty much worthless to someone who doesn't collect them; in fact, so are vintage cards -- yes, even a Wagner. They are, in the end, merely pieces of paper. And diamonds are rocks and paper money is just that -- paper.

    We humans attach worth to certain items.

    It just makes you appear rather narrow-minded and silly when you make such sweeping statements trying to explain away why modern cards are collected.

    People complain when they feel they get less than they pay for. People praise when they feel they get more than they pay for. People do not say anything when they feel they get what they pay for. This is why there has been so much complaining lately. June Specials that will not be done until October, cards that get resent in and go from a PSA 5 to PSA 9 and many others issues. And yes the person should be happy to have the PSA 9 but it should have been a 9 the first time.

    My last order from PSA got some great grades and my problems with paypal/ebay will be resolved shortly. So I guess things are looking up for me.
    Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

    Not PSA related but an awesome new experience for me. I just bought my first original comic art. I am a big Blue Beetle/Booster Gold fan and I am trying to get as much original art as possible. You can get full pages for under 20 bucks sometimes. This image comes from his last appearance alive (here's hoping he comes back) and was the kickoff issue for the last big DC event.

    My raw sets are coming along very nicely. As long as I stick with my one dealer for raws (i.e, never buying raws on eBay) and be patient in buying graded stars, it will all be good. Plus my sales of 1957s have been doing well.

    I was able to get my computer fixed without losing anything off my hard drive, including hundreds of family photographs that I don't have any other copies of. Whew!

    And, hopefully, I'll be making another post here when the Cubs clinch a playoff spot.

    Bought a 1963 Post set and now have a new card collecting frontier to play with and learn about. image

    I have found it very enjoyable to collect non-mainstream cards. They are generally cheaper than their more collected counterparts and the exploration into something new is cool. image

    I received two PSA cards yesterday that were well packaged.

    Individually team bagged, piece of cardboard between the two, wrapped in bubble wrap, then sandwiched with cardboard, and then placed in a thick bubble mailer.

    So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

    I got an email from Mike Gidwitz - who used to own the PSA 8 Wagner - he found another nice piece of comic art and offered it to me before he put it on his web.

    That was nice of him to think of me first - this is a great Hobby! As long as I don't take it 'too' seriously?

    I get very serious about PSA grades but a picture of a child reminds me what is really important in life. I am a single dad raising 3 kids in elementary school and my cards always take a back seat to them.

    Bought a box of 1980 Football from BBEC--Got 4 Otis Andersons, 2 Bradshaws, 1 Dan Fouts, no Simms image. Cherry picked 20 for PSA tommorrow. Also bought a 1985 Football box. Some of those will be making their way as well to PSA. What would "go RIGHT" is that i get them back before Christmas.

    One night Little Johnny was really scared sleeping by himself at camp, so he sprints out of his tent and runs to his teachers tent and asks "Miss can I please sleep with you tonight ?".

    His teacher replies "NO"

    Johnny moans and says "But my mummy lets me".

    "OK then, just for tonight" the teacher replies.

    Johnny jumps into bed with her and asks "Miss can I please play with your belly button with my finger".

    She again says "NO".

    "But my mummy lets me" says Johnny again.

    "Well I suppose it's OK" replies the teacher.

    Things are silent for a few minutes until the teacher leaps up screaming "THAT'S NOT MY BELLY BUTTON"

    Little Johnny replies "It aint my finger either".

    bought three collections in the last two weeks. Almost have back all my money and saved all the 67-77 stuff for me. Basically its all free now, including some fantastic 70 and 71 and a factory set of 74 topps! So I have had a good two weeks.

    I was able to score two pieces for my collection that I have wanted for years. A 1958 Milwaukee Braves World Series Black bat and a 1958 Braves team signed ball. I'm pretty excited about having these in my collection.

    And in other related news, I had read on this board that if you had an old flip from Someother Good Company, it would not be reholdered in the same grade. I tested that theory and got my card back in a week, and it stayed a 9.

    I got nothing to complain about on the collecting front, life is good. image

    Going right is my cousin coming back from Iraq in a few weeks. He sent me this joke in the e-mail.

    Dear Ma & Pa:
    Am well. Hope you are. Tell brother Walt & Brother Elmer the Marine Corps beats working for old man Minch by a mile. Tell them to join up quick before maybe all of the places are filled.
    I was restless at first because you got to stay in bed till nearly 6 a.m., but am getting so I like to sleep late. Tell Walt & Elmer all you do before breakfast is smooth your cot and shine some things. No hogs to slop, feed to pitch, mash to mix, wood to split, fire to lay. Practically nothing. Men got to shave but it is not so bad, they git warm water.
    Breakfast is strong on trimmings like fruit juice, cereal, eggs, bacon, etc..., but kind of weak on chops, potatoes, ham, steak, fried eggplant, pie, and other regular food. But tell Walt & Elmer you can always sit between two city boys that live on coffee. Their food plus yours holds you till noon, when you get fed again. It's no wonder these city boys can't walk much.
    We go on "route" marches, which the Platoon Sergeant says are long walks to harden us. If he thinks so, it is not my place to tell him different. A "route march" is about as far as to our mailbox at home. Then the city guys gets sore feet and we all ride back in trucks. The country is nice, but awful flat.
    The Sergeant is like a schoolteacher. He nags some. The Capt. is like the school board. Majors & Colonels just ride around & frown. They don't bother you none.
    This next will kill Walt & Elmer with laughing. I keep getting medals for shooting. I don't know why. The bulls-eye is near as big as a chipmunk and don't move. And it ain't shooting at you, like the Higgett boys at home. All you got to do is lie there all comfortable and hit it. You don't even load your own cartridges. They come in boxes.
    Be sure to tell Walt & Elmer to hurry & join before other fellers get into this setup & come stampeding in.

    P.S. Speaking of shooting, enclosed is $200 towards a new barn roof & ma's teeth. The city boys shoot craps, but not very good.

    yer dam fl team was suppose to lose matt lol-ya only got 20 diff fl college fb teams down there-we only got wvu,rest of em dont count - we had a perfect record-so much for that-its emmitts fault somehow i just know it!!!!
