Proofs from the bank at face today

Went to the bank today.... usual "let me get all your Ikes, Kennedy's and gold dollars" from the teller I was at.... even before they hit the counter I saw brilliant shine. Sure enough three 2000 Sacagawea proofs.

They must have just came in because even under loop cant see any scratches.

Had some really good hits on kennedy silver there lately but didnt expect to see any proof coins.

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

Unfortunately, 80% of the time it is burglars. They find some proof sets and crack them open and spend the coins. Most of the other 20% may be little kid wanting candy money or older folks with dementia.

  • I've come across a lot of clad proof Kennedy halves in my usual buy of all the halves my favorite teller holds for me.

In almost every case they've seen enough circulation that that are worth exactly 50 cents. image

I have gotten a few Kennedy proof when looking for silver in half rolls. Most of the time, they are scratched and not worth more than the silver.

Crack would be the key word.

    Nice find.
