PSA finds even more ways to disappoint me.

I got my 3 card submission in the mail today. It was from the 5-day special and it only took 6 business days to grade. All 3 cards were from the 1967 Laughlin World Series set. I already have a complete set in the registy and these are upgrades. These cards are a little larger than regular cards and PSA always puts them in this way over-sized holder. I have about 80 cards from this set in these over-sized holders now. For some reason 2 of the 3 cards were put in the over-sized holders and the third card is in a much smaller perfect fit holder. Why would PSA put cards from the same set in 2 different holders in the same submission? Why did they put all my other cards from previous submissions in these ridiculously over-sized holders if they have a smaller holder that fits? And yes the cards do slide around in the over-sized holders. Then I call customer service. I get this guy who did not say his name and I never heard this guy before. I am trying to explain and he is being totally rude and keeps cutting me off and never answered any question I asked. Finally I just asked for the operations manager where I was able to leave a voice mail message. I have probably sent in 100 cards this year for mechanical errors. I am just getting very frustrated with PSA. Should I be?

Post a scan - seems ridiculous that three cards from the same sub would be holdered differently. You may want to tone down the thread title though.

Obviously they ran out of one holder and used a suitable replacement.

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

    I would send them back.

If that is true and the cards fit into the smaller holder than why have they not been using the small holder from the beginning?
  • Measure the cards. I bet the two in the large holder are actually too big to fit the the smaller holder.

very cool cards sir, never seen them b4!!!!

i agree w/ stown, they simply had to reduce overhead and threw in a "complimentary" bigger slab.

it does seem more impressive than that little slab, i mean size counts doesnt it?

The bigger slab is the one they normally use for this card whcih make me wonder why did not always use the smaller slab. The smaller one actually fits the card so why have they been using the larger slab? Why change slabs in the middle of a submission?

    certainly, j, certainly.
  • Bigger slab makes it a tallboy and brings in more dinero! But I do love the 67 Laughlin issue!

I'll say it--Make them feel it in the wallet if you want to make your point. It is the only way they will get the message.

I am not going to say that because it lowers me to his level. I just stick to the facts.

After seeing the pictures even someone who really does not know too much about cards can see how those cards can move around way too much inside those holders .

I would send pics as Randy suggested .

How the heck does something like that happen ?

Reminds me of when something similar happened to Mr Lawnmowerman's Sub not too long ago .

Mr.Lawnmowerman, what ever was the outcome with that situation?
  • I've never seen that happen before, two diff. slabs for one issue.
    Nice cards by the way.

The operations Mngr. at PSA is Ivan and he's excellent to deal with by the way. I'm sure he'll straighten this out for you.

    Contact the "Boss?"

One guy was so pissed at his sub that he told Joe - when I see you at the National...

    "We're gonna dance..."

I guess the tone was misunderstood...

Joe's got more than cards on his mind!

email joe. i had a problem with a card they said they wouldnt grade yet they have before. turns out, shockingly (fake grin on face), that the spec department was clueless. he got it resovled and i had the card graded at no charge.
