    WOW!
All coins kept in bank vaults.
    PCGS Registries
    Box of 20
    SeaEagleCoins: 11/14/54-4/5/12. Miss you Larry!
  • I voted thumbs down. The left one immediately reminded me of the pictures of Cate Blanchett playing Bob Dylan.

Terrible design,Absolute Bull$hit. What about the debate which log cabin design to use ?

    Why can't they make a 98% copper 2009 S VDB Wheatback
for old time collectors for me.Perhaps even a matte proof ?

That would be asking far too much of the mint to issue something like that for general circulation. Bummer--great idea though.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

This is the Neo-Renaissance they are talking about? image
  • Why does it say 'One Cent' on both sides??.
It also looks like they are taking 'liberty' off
    hmmm...

edited to say: I see now... there are 4 reverses.

I'm thinking Lyle Lovett playing Cosmo Kramer.

The 1909 VDB is nice but that's a coin minted in 1909. Re-treading an old design would indicate a lack of creativity. These cent designs are not so bad given the limitation in subject matter. I still don't really understand why the flood of new designs to which we have been subject over the last ten years have been so poor. With the notable exceptions of the sac and the 2005 nickel obverse, the designs coming out of the mint have been at best pedestrian. Instead of giving up and reproducing an old design, why not find some true artisitc talent to produce new and vibrant designs?

BECAUSE THE MINT IS TOO CHEAP.THEY ARE IN BUSINESS......IF YOU DIDN'T KNOW THAT THE US MINT IS THE LARGEST COIN DEALER IN THE WORLD.

HOW ABOUT A HIGH RELIEF ?

    Will they have finishes in
    - Zinc
    - Steel
    - Copper
    - Copper nickel ?
  • I don't understand the Mint....They changed the 5 cent Jefferson reverse and then went back to the old Monticello design. Now with the Lincoln cent why can't they dig up the old 1909 dies and bring them up to date with the wheatie reverse....What is so difficult..??

Did these on IrfanView and PowerPoint to see what they'd look like as coins:

  • I don't care for it. I would like to see a matte proof in 2009 though.

When did the U.S. Mint issue a PENNY? I thought that was a pre-euro English denomination. The AOL story make no CENTS to me...

The word "penny" is in common usage and is interchangable with the word "cent" even though the Mint issues cents and not pennies. I have never seen a "give a cent, take a cent" dish, have you?

    A cent for your thoughts?

    Cent loafers?

    Cent candy?

That woud cost a pretty cent?

    Cents from heaven?

    A cent jar?

I think it's safe to say that the word "penny" is used quite widely in American English to refer to the US cent.
