Ebay to hand over personal info of sellers to Revenue Canada...

I heard this morning on the radio that the Federal Gov't of Canada just won the judicial right to gain access to all personal info and Ebay info of Canadian sellers on Ebay who sell more than $1000 a month.

I guess the long awaited witch hunt has begun.

And this is a problem, how? You sellers DO show all your sales on your taxes, don't you?
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.
  • Yes. All the liberals are paying "their fair share", and all the conservatives are law-abiding patriots. There couldn't be any tax fraud.

I would like get "free" health care here in the USA, rather than sending all my hard earned tax money to people of Iraq. And that is just the tip of the iceberg. The USA is a money tree to a lot of countries in form of aid.

Also all the illegal aliens here and many legal residents already get free health care here-just by walking into any hospital emergency room.

  • It'll happen here too. It's just a matter of time.

You can bet it will, and I doubt it will be all that much time either.

Expect something from the IRS in Octoberaudit
  • All you Canukies will just have to start paying your taxes.

The IRS is already wanting ebay to report all sellers who have annual sales of 100 units and $5,000.

Lots of 3rd party info gets reported to the IRS already. I don't see this as an issue if it helps with tax compliance and to close the tax gap. There is going to be some major tax reform in the next year or two (the most high profile being on the corporate tax side; there is only so much you can do with individual tax).
