Danco 7070 with a twist

I have purchased a 7070 album. I figure when I'm not looking for Morgan to fill my set this will give me some structure to my collecting. I want to do something different. I want a 7070 with nothing but error coins. I figure it will take a long time to build, but this is one of those things that you want to do right. I will keep all of you abreast of the what I find. This first coin in this album is a broadstruck 1945 mercury dime.

I love the die polish lines of this coin.

great idea. will some of the coins have trouble fitting into the holes, depending on the error?

  • Great idea - but I was thinking like the poster above. Are you going to cut the holes if they don't fit?
  • looking at the Broadstruck, I was reading Baley's mind! does it fit?!

  • That is pretty ambitious.

Good luck! I love that broadstruck coin.

I'm doing a type set with clips, the nice thing about those is that there won't be any issue with fit if I ever decide to put them into a 7070. Good luck finding some of those one- and two-year types or the commems with errors, they're pretty tough.

I know there is a more affordable example, I know it, I just cannot locate it.

The holes in the album are a little too small for some errors. Like with the broadstruck I've had to make adjustments with a razor blade. Its not that much of a hassle. Just lay the coin over the hole and trace its outline then cut.

  • Hey Chris,
What a interesting undertaking, Good luck with it.
Along that vane I have 3 Lincoln Pennies you might be interested in. 1. 1994 - missing 50% of edge rim
    2. 1994-Dmissing 1/3 or more of edge rim 3. 1999 Boardstruck
The 1st two are regular size while nbr 3 is slightly larger than the hole in your 7070.
PM me if interested in any of them and I will make you a real special deal.

Fantastic venture! All the best luck, but easy with the razor blade!
