Anybody know anything about Mastroner Auctions?

Hi, I have a card that I want to sell with Mastronet and I would like to know if anybody knows anythink about them? Do you know how many auctions a year they have? Also, what is the best time of the year to list an item for auction with them? Any info would be of great help. I will stick around here a little bit so I can ask a question if anybody know anything about the company. I already went to their webiste but it really dosen't give me any answers on what I want to know and to call Mastronet would make no sense to me because they will tell me whatever I want to hear( I think anyway lol). So again, any help at all would be appreciated very much. Thank you for your time.

It depends on a lot of things...

What is the approximate value of your item?

Will it go in a Premier Auction or a Collector's Classic?

What is the fee that you will pay them?

You need to provide more info. if you want an educated answer.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

First off, see if they actually want the consignment. If it's what I think it is there is a good chance they won't take it, because they think it's too small an item (realized $$) for them.
This year they have 5 premier and 3 classic auctions- the classics can be all over the place in terms of realized prices, and the last premier auction left a few consignors very upset.
For something relatively small (under 1K) I'd consider a smaller auction house where you can stand out a bit more. Bill Goodwin is a great guy to deal with and that is the right size for a lot of things that would fly under the radar in a big catalog auction like Mastro.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • Anthony hit the nail on the head.
Brian Marren loves to tell collectors "We're not interested"
    No "Thank you"
    No nothing
A lot of the larger auction companies want you to thank them for having the "honor" of consigning with them
Is this hobby out of whack or what?

They estimated it at $5,000.00 to $10,000.00

Not sure what you mean by Premier Auction or a Collector's Classic. What is that? I never put anything on auction before accept for ebay that is.

They said they would charge 15% and I may be able to list it for this December's auction. Thanks for everything

Hi and thank you for the help. I already spoke with them and they told me they would accept it. Do you think the December auction is a good one? Which of their auction is the best time to list? I'm still not sure what Premier Auction or Collector Classic means. Whats the difference? I have no clue at all what they mean as I never dealt with anything like this. Thanks again

Was it the Menko? Unless the estimate is a guarantee in writing it means nothing. Recent history has certainly proven that.

Mastro has 2 types of auctions- premier and collectors.
Premier is where the best items go. They get full write ups, a big catalog, images, and some other perks that were outlined in a post on 54 last December.
Collectors is the simpler auction- no copy, a smaller catalog, and all lots start at $100. each

Nothing is more negotiable than the sellers commission- many auction houses now offer 0-5%, and some will even give back part of the buyers premium for large consignments. When you figure they will take 15% from you and 20% from the buyer, will you really do any better than you can on ebay or with another auction house?

Yeah it is and they said that they would start it at around $2,000 I think so I guess that means its the Primier Auction? What other auction houses are there? I wanted to find this out before but nobody was able to help me. I had asked which auction house was the best and nobody responded to my post so I checked out the Mastronet site and it seemed pritty good. Do you know the process of me sending in a card to them? What shipping method and all of that kind of stuff? What kind of forms to fill out or what forms will they give me for my records? Thank you so much for the help, glad somebody knows something about themimage Thanks again
