Game Used bats, and numerical grading?

Hello,

I've been bombarding these message boards like crazy lately, sorry! Hey, I picked up that Frank Thomas game used bat I've been seeking advice on. Now, I am going to turn right around and get PSA DNA to authenticate it. What I was wondering, is it worth having a numerical grade assigned to it? It's only $50 extra, and if it's recommended than I'll go right ahead and do it. Also, where should one place the cert. sticker? Have it on the bat itself, or on the letter from PSA DNA?

THANK YOU!

  • The sticker would be on both. Is a Frank Thomas GU bat really worth authenticating? I honestly don't know but if it makes you happy go for it. As far as the # grade $50 sounds steep just to have a number grade assigned after all isn't the main draw the fact that it is game used? So authenticating in itself would accomplish that.

Is that the one recently closing on ebay from Elite? If so - nice bat!

To be honest - I don't think you need the PSA unless you plan on reselling it right away.

And, since his bats are not in super high demand - and plentiful - I don't think it's worth the extra money to have it graded. It should sell nicely just with the PSA/DNA cert. - IMO.

Yes, it is the one that just sold on Ebay from Elite. I am pretty excited about it! Never bought a bat before. I don't plan to sell it right away, or at all. I just think having the PSA stamp of approval would be awesome. And when they authenticate a bat that has an autograph on it, they'll certify that too, right?

    Thank you everyone!
