Poll:How many of you would buy NCS coins??

We have talked about how and why coins end up at NCS, but would you buy a coin in an NCS holder?

Yes, in fact I own several that were in NCS holders when I bought them. Of course, like all my other coins, they are raw now.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

    Just wondering....
Can most NCS coins be crossed to NGC? (without being bagged)

The NCS holder is one of the best looking ones out there. Much better than an ANACS holder.

As for the question about crossing to NGC. I suppose if it was a no problem coin in the NCS holder NGC would holder it, although since there is no grade on the NCS holder I am not sure how it would be considered a "cross".

<< <i>How would you know 100% of the time. If we know that you can send a coin to NCS and to perform their magic and then off it goes for an upgrade and out it comes in a NGC holder without the new buyer knowing what happened. So that means we all may unknowingly own NCS coins. >>

Don't forget the next cross that may happen.

I've considered a few but so far there's always been people more interested in them.

The NCS slabs are pretty decent and better than the standard NGC slabs IMO.

I can crack them out and get a new holder if needed. image

    Hoard the keys.
  • Always wondered, if you have a NGC slabbed coin that has a problem that NCS should be able to fix, will it come back in a NCS slab or NGC slab? I have a specific example I'm thinking about sending in, or sending back.

  • Yes, and if I run across another one I'm going to buy it too! And
I bet most of you would also. Even Realone might not pass one
of these up. I came across a T$ in a NCS holder with a Details grade
and the only 'problem' labeled was CHOPMARKED. It went into a PCGS
    holder without problem.

I guess whoever sent it to NCS didn't know PCGS grades T$ with
chopmarks. NGC, as far as I know, doesn't grade T$ with chopmarks
    unless something has changed recently.

If it's something I like, the price is right and not something I can find otherwise I would but it.

I own 2 IHC's including this one. It was body bagged for improper cleaning. Had several folks look at that are respected indian head cent collectors as well as a former grader. Consensus was it was ok. Only one negative comment and that was from the man whose written about this series and makes a living selling them. Paid a third of its value if it had been slabbed.

I would probably own one if the coin was rare enough. Conservation of most coins is like liposuction of the brain.

As I understand it, if a coin is problem free then NGC holders it. NCS only holders those with problems so they won't cross.

    I already bought a couple.
  • I like the look of holders as well...I try not to buy coins with problems, but I would not 100% rule out a coin in an NCS holder.

No. They would have been placed in NGC slabs after conservation in most cases.

NO, that is not correct. It's what people choose to do. NCS will
put a problem free coin in a NCS holder. They will also identify varieties
and errors for free...according to their web. The non-problem coins will
not be assigned any type of grade. But, will be labeled "GENUINE"

    encapsulation by NCS
