I don't know much about blogs....but telling the world that I'm a coin collector is probably not real good.

Why, well, that's a good question. Perhaps I really don't know what a blog is? Can they be public or
private? Would you really want anyone searching for "coin collector" bringing up your name and such?
Maybe that's not possible but as I said I don't know what a blog is....just a vague idea.

I have an investment blog, see my signature link. Basically, it is a public diary. There are any number of free hosting sites. I am not so active in coins, so a coin blog from me would be rather dull.

Some dealers have a section of their website that report in blog fashion. A coin blog from a collector could be kind of cool. New purchases, auction lot viewings, show reports, Ebay seller, or Ebay sniper tales, or whatever could make interesting reading. A good number of collectors here are active enough to write an interesting blog. Some here could just copy and paste from their posts here and that would be a good start. Links to other websites are common on blogs, those that like looking for interesting coins and posting them on the forum, might find a blog format to be a good one. Those reading the blog would know that after a while.

Those that are afraid of becoming a target could make a more generic type of blog that excluded personal purchases and sales and just talk about interesting coins that they see on other websites, coin news, market updates.

Here's one by Scott Barman: Coin Collectors Blog
  • I enjoyed the blog by Scott Barman. I especially thought the pcgs video was great... now I have a question. IF the 2 pcgs graders dont agree, what happens if the 3rd grader also doesnt agree with the other 2? How often do you think that happens?Would Pcgs admit that?
  • I have a coin blog about being a beginner coin collector. I'm having trouble logging into it lately to add new posts. Here's the link to it.

    Thanks Pentimento, link works now.

They grab the 9mm firearms and shoot it out. Last one left standing is correct.

How often do you think that happens?

Not sure. Will have to check the canals for "floaters."

    Would Pcgs admit that?

    Admit what?
  • I just started one specifically for seated coinage...

  • I just wonder if pcgs would admit that 3 of its top graders could not agree on a single grade for 1 coin. I figure this must happen occaisionally. I just wonder what they do. The reason i suspect they wouldnt make it pubic is that it would say alot about the precision of coin grading in general.
