For Sale: 1909-O Barber Quarter PCGS F15

Just slabbed at PCGS (Cert # 12080051), fully original and soooooooo close to VF. A choice coin, basically impossible to find this nice and original. $850 postpaid registered-insured. I can send you a scan when the coin arrives back from PCGS. Trust me, it's the nicest F15 you can get from PCGS.

I'm really interested to know what this coin looks like for $850. PCGS price guide (which is typically on the high side) lists this date at $92 in Fine, $340 in EF, and $525 in AU, not reaching the $800 level until the MS grades. I've an unslabbed '09-O that's easily a Fine-15 (pictured below w/full LIBERTY and strong rims). I'd be VERY interested if you can get $800 for a Fine coin.

  • I will be more than happy to pay you double the prices you quoted from the PCGS guide. How many do you have?

Your price is referencing dimes not quarters. Big diff!

Not standing up for Irv, but these are tuff. I dont know about that asking price tuff, but they sell typically for a good percentage over sheet. However, market conditions are changing drastically, and many items are overdone. I will be intrested in seeing if it sells at this level.

  • I'm interested to know if these price quoting guys have any interest in Barber quarters at all, or just like to stir up the pot. I've made my buy offer to you fellas, but you do not have any to sell. Maybe you might try checking the PCGS population reports on these coins before you start quoting prices. Also, we need to read the correct columns, like dimes, quarters, halves etc.

Why would anyone interfere with this persons coin for sale on BST board? It will only sell if a person wants it, why is he being made to justify his asking price? I see alot of items for sale with high asking prices, whether this is high I don't know with out researching but what does it matter.

Goodness - Irv consistently offers some of the toughest dates in the most desireable and popular grades and he is being second guessed as for his asking price on a thread he started on the BST forum?

If it doesn't sell by the time the coin returns from PCGS, please post a photo of it here Irv.

    Thank you,
    Tyler
  • Thank you Tyler. I will send you a scan when the coin arrives. I don't have to tell you that this coin is most likely an R6-R7 this grade.

  • I don't often comment on these things.....

JJ Teaparty has a PCGS VG-10 and is asking $350.

    $850 for a F-15 is not unreasonable.

The price guides are all wrong for this date.

Well my goodness! I'm not second guessing Irv... I'm saying that if he is indeed successful at selling his '09-O at the $800+ plus level, I'd like to know as such a number would compel me to submit mine and offer it for sale. And for JDMMICK, those quotes are from the quarter prices in the PCGS guide, the link just above the Standing Liberty Quarters....

If Irv can get that price for the coin, very good for him!

Regarding your offer to purchase mine at double the PCGS guide in Fine: You're selling a F-15 for $850, and offering me $184 from my F-15?.... Thanks, but I'll respectfully pass.

    regards,

    C'dude

He's not out of line at that price. Maybe a tad on the high side but not out of line.

It's not even close to being that rare in this grade.
