Other coins from the 1838 O Half trade

I mentioned in an earlier post that I had traded the last of my Canadian Collection for an 1838 O Half and some other coins.
I took delivery of them today and they are stunningly beautiful in my eyes. Besides always wanting a great US rarity I always wanted the Pan Pacific $50.00 Gold pieces. Although not that rare I think they are among the most beautiful modern Coins ever minted.

Here is another photo of the 1838 O Half and other coins taken by my wifes Uncle, he is a great photographer. As always, please enjoy.

  • Okay, I'm amazed. You HAVE TO tell us about this previous collection of yours. These coins are stunning! Were you sitting on millions in Canadian coins?

Nice trio, though the images are a bit out of focus.

  • Most of my Canadian collection was sold in 2003 at an Auction by Heritage. It was one of every coin Canada ever made in high mint or proof grades, It was basically the equivalent in Canadian coins of the Eliasberg US collection. What I traded for here was the last few pieces from that collection that did not meet reserve.

why does the 1838O have lines on the obverse all going in the same
    direction?

your first pic showed a nice looking coin, now it looks ugh.
every mark on that coin is going the same direction.

    thoughts?

With the exception of the two contact marks it is actually marks on the plastic that the picture was taken through. The coin indeed looks more like this in real life.
