Newspaper Classified Ads

Have you ever tried to place a classified ad in the local newspaper stating that you want to buy coin collections or silver? If you have, have you ever had any success or found anything rare or interesting?

Thanks,

Brian

Nope, never had much success. I for sure haven't found anything rare or interesting. Most of the time it is common junk - such as wheat pennies or some low-grade circulated junk silver. And they usually think it is worth a lot more than it is. Sometimes, I don't even get a call or response. Usually, it is a older person calling to tell me they have this "rare" penny from 1945.image

Yes and I received a call from a fellow with broken english who wanted me to meet him in Miami and that he had more than a million dollars he wanted to spend.

I advised him that I'd meet him at a public place like Ruth's Chris steakhouse in Ft Lauderdale and when he insisted that we had to meet in Miami I just passed. Two weeks later, friends of mine experiences a home invasion, were tied up and left on the floor in the bathroom, house completely ransacked and ripped off. I was followed by a car full of what appeared to be hispanic males and fortunately the police got involved and that was that.

I am VERY reluctant to meet people locally and on more often than not, advise people who want to meet me, to call someone else.

  • Never really had much luck with classifieds.
