Can someone tell me what this is?

It appears to be made of zinc and is 25mm in diameter.

    A factory token?

I'm not certain what Kammgarn is precisely, but if you click over to the English version of the German Wikipedia entry it describes worsted yarn. Spinnerei is a textile factory.

I'd date it to late the WWI period.

'kleingeldersatz' translates to change replacement or spare change and 'marke' usually seems to mean it is a token instead of a coin.

Sounds like notgeld or kriegsgeld, but I can't see the pix. Photobucket. Curse the security settings on this server at work! image

Ever since they amped up the security and started blocking all kinds of stuff, half the coin pix on the forums are red-X for me, and I can't even visit my own metal detecting forum over on 24! image
