A shop will buy your coins with a small differential under spot and you save shipping. Ebay buyers will pay spot or more, and they pay shipping, but you have to pay Ebay and paypal fees (almost 6%) total. These BST (Buy, Sell, Trade) forums here on this site might offer the highest return. It would be easy to sell at spot and have the buyer pay for shipping.
Large bullion dealers make it easy also. Tulving (amongst many good dealers) has listed buy / sell prices on their site.
But how many "fair" local shops are there? I get the impression that margins on bullion have been going up.
Do you really want to have your money tied up in something that depends on the good will of a coin dealer for its liquidity and value? >>
Great points 291 - I have always wondered the value of hoarding gold and silver when it is so illiquid. By that I mean, a seller either has to make his / her own market or be at the mercy of a few coin or pawn shops in town. What kind of security is that? What kind of liquidity is that?

I agree....
and don't forget to give the folks on the BST a chance.
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.

I have bought and sold to CNI. They are quick and have great prices on both ends of the deal.
I knew it would happen.

That's why the exchange traded funds SLV and GLD are popular, among others.

Although, I've never sold my gold or silver holdings. I'm still holding. Enjoy the ride!
Best regards.
