Home Sports Talk

Red Sox collapse is pretty close to '64 Phillies collapse.

Only difference is Boston will still make the playoffs. But they will cede home field to all other teams by winding up with the wild card, and depart in the first round.

Unbelievable. I'm not a fan for or against Boston, but I hate NYY and if Boston completes the collapse I will hate them too for being chokers. (Sorry Bosox 76)

  • complete and total mismanagement of the bullpen (who is noticeably tired) Anemic offense... when is Manny gonna play a game? They are definitely not clicking; damn luck for them to be able to back into the playoffs; they have lost all momentum.
  • When Gagne was signed it looked to be a brilliant move - solidifying a bullpen that was already very good, and at the time Gagne was pitching quite well.

I think the Cubs collapse of 1969 is probably the better example. If my recollection is collect, the Philles lost the last 6 games of the season while the Cards managed to win 6 straight and the Phillies had a 5 game lead...

  • Good come back by the Sox tonight. The AL East race is going down to the wire. At the start of September on paper the Red Sox clearly had the easier schedule than the Yankees with more home games as well as easier opponents. The Red Sox didn't take care of business and now I would say the Yankees have easier games remaining: 2 against Toronto, 3 Devil Rays, 3 Orioles. Red Sox: 1 TB, 2 Oakland, 4 Twins. Oakland and Twins pitching can be tough.

"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
