I finally picked up a 1988 Monty Gum box!!

I can't believe that I finally found one. It's probably the rarest of the 1980's UK oddball cards and there are plenty of great stars including Marino, Montana, Payton, ect... in the set. it's similiar in action shots to the 1970's / 1980's Fleer sets but were smaller and yellow on the front. There are actually two variations - a white back which is flimsier (almost like a topps sticker card) and a brown back which is blank cardboard. This box is the white back. I only paid $120 dlvd and the box should yield over 200 cards... I think the set is only 100 cards or so. Check out the Marino's in my Marino master set.

Seems to me the Payton was a VERY tough card to find from that set. Or at least one of the variations of the Payton.

Nice pick up. Those are pretty neat cards... definitely unique photography. The only 80's UK release I'd say is rarer is 1988 Ace Fact Pack.

Yep .. very tough Payton card. Unfortunately, for you fellow Payton collectors it is NOT eligible for the Master Set on the Set registry.
