I used to search through bags of dimes and quarters. Didn't find anything huge, silver here and there. Some funny items that make it by the sorting machine I pulled out and saved. Including, numerous foreign coins, buttons, pennies ground down to the size of dimes (some idiot making 9 cents by doing it) and a bunch of other stuff.
About 6 months ago, I pulled out a proof Franklin. The fields were still mirrored, but there was some friction on the high points. Other than the occasional 40 and 90 percenter half, that's about it.

While I was looking for the "no edge lettering" version of the George Washington Dollar, I found one missing a clad layer on the heads side, and was able to sell it for $500.
I found 10 MS66 1943-P Double Eye (DDO) Jeffersons in a roll. About $1K each. I also found 7 extra leaf WI quarters in a roll. Numerous doubled dies and high grade coins.
This one I got a few rolls of wheats from the Bank and was searching thru them,I had to look twice, my heart was pounding but then settled down, but a cool coin for the album,I did post this before on the forum
Mind you, that was found in bulk wheat rolls, not right out of circulation rolls.
But I have made a few interesting roll finds.
In cents, I (actually my wife) found three or four blank planchets in a roll of new cents a couple years ago.
Mostly, though, I hunt the nickels, since I can't get halves very often. I have gotten lots of war nickels, several clipped planchets including one double clip, and once, back in '92, I got a BU full step 1940 nickel out of a roll that consisted mostly of new 1992-P coins. That was weird. The 1940 looked better than a lot of the new '92-Ps did. That 1940 gem BU Jeff and a 1937-D Buffalo nickel from a Pepsi machine are about the best of my circulation finds.
When I was a kid in the late 70s, it was not uncommon to get really low grade Wheaties in circulation, and I got 1909, 1909-VDB, 1911, and 1912 coins out of change, but they were really slick.
Bought a roll of 1963 Lincolns in a plastic tube from a tiny coin and jewelry shop for $1.50. Found this... now pcgs ms67rd pop 4/0. Was the highlight of my collection but had to sell it for $5600.
I bought a BU roll set of Memorial cents from a Numismatic News classified ad back in 1992 (one roll each of 1959-1992 coins), and the tubes of cents were shipped to me in a paint can. Upon going through them, I discovered the seller had included some bonus rolls. There were no 1960 Small Date cents, but pretty much everything else, including all the 1982 seven varieties, was represented by a BU roll of coins.
Not only was this roll set of superior quality, but there was a roll (and a second, partial roll) of BU ... 1972 DDO cents!
They were Die #3, so in other words, they were "Poor Man's Doubled Dies", but that was one helluva nice bonus!
I sold handpicked BU sets in the NumiNews classifieds for a while, and once got a nice letter from a guy who'd been really impressed with the quality.
So, whoever and wherever that fella who sold me the paint can full of BU Memorial rolls is, God bless him.
here are some that i found in rolls that i got graded this past year - i kinda look at everything
Minnesota Extra Tree DDR-001 & DDR-011 Sac Wounded Eagle 2006 Lincoln FS-101 1979 Wide Am SBA 1994 Lincoln FS-039.9

Finding about 100 extra leaf Wisconsin quarters in about 25 rolls of quarters (yes they were new, but they were rolled).

As I am sure everyone else does, I find 40% silver halves in rolls and loose at banks every few months. And ever so often I get lucky enough to come across a 90% silver one. When I was working as a cashier at a supermarket I caught someone dumping a bunch of half-dollars into our Coinstar machine; a few kept coming back out, making this odd clunking sound in the change return slot. I knew that there was only one thing that they could be. So I headed over there to take a look. I ended up buying all of the lady's remaining half-dollars. Mostly regular ones, but also nine Franklins and one 1964 Kennedy. That job also helped me to accumulate a whole bunch of silver war nickels, buffalo nickels, dimes, quarters, and even a roll or two of 40% and 90% silver half-dollars over time (the halves from elderly customers who paid with them), although it was very rare. Plus more than a few wheat pennies and Eisenhower dollars. A few managers there were coin collectors, and they had entire containers full of silver and other old coins (I was allowed to see them when I asked). I was just able to catch what came through my register, or what came through the store when I was the only coin collector working. No good currency, though.
Collecting has become fun again, and buying a roll of Kennedys in an ebay auction turned out to be one of my most interesting finds. PCGS has now certified all 4 of the ones I've submitted, so I am confident that the rest are certifiable too.
I came in on the tail-end of a roll liquidation, and managed to pick up (20) rolls of 1958-P Roosies, with both ends toned, and another 35 rolls of 1959-P Roosies having one end toned and the other end papered. I've opened all of the 1958-P rolls, but none of the 1959-P rolls. Until I find time to look over all of the 1958-P, I'm in no hurry to open any more rolls.

I'm waiting for some Frankie rolls, one of which might even make Lucy drool. It should get here this week.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
Just went through some penny rolls today. Found these three. Not going to pay the rent but I like the color on the 45
On a side note. Of the rolls I opened today I have to say they were the worst looking rolls of pennies I have ever seen. Times must be bad as people are rolling those pennies they find crusted and covered in crude from under the car seat to pay for the cable Wonder if there is a correlation between crappy pennies in rolls and the state of the economy
RACC I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
here's some of my jefferson nickel bu roll finds (* sorry, no pics, thery're all in the bank box)- pcgs66fs - 38-d,45-s,47-p,48-p,72-d,74-p pcgs65fs - 49-s,54-p,55-p,63-p
i have a 53-p anacs-66 fs pop 1 for many years, but it won't cross to pcgs. pcgs did list it as crossed to 65fs with the initial submission, but renegged after a review, and realizing it was a $5,000 coin in their plastic. i guess the 60-p debacle got them skeered.
While I used to go through rolls as a kid, I generally don't anymore because my collecting patterns have changed. However, I was at the bank one day, and as a lark I picked up 20 rolls of cents to go through. I ended up with 14 complete rolls of wheat cents, including almost two rolls of steelies.

My icon IS my coin. It is a gem 1949 FBL Franklin.
Second best: 1/2 of a nickel roll of buffalo nickels, with the balance of the roll silver war and pre-1950 nickels.

In a nutshell, a Morgan in a roll of IKE's. From a satisfaction standpoint, that beat the heck out of finding a 90% Kennedy in a roll of Halves.

Lots of nickels, but only three of them Buffs, one decent 1935-D
I'm close to 300 40% and two rolls of 90% silver halves, the one Franklin I got wasn't in a roll it was part of the $6 in halves a teller had.
But if we are talking about coins, I found 1909 vbd and sent it in for grading and got a pcgs ms 62 too bad it wasn't a S mint.
