Any Griffey Collectors Here?

Are there any on the board?

  • Yes, but in the "wrong" holder. image I love his minor league issues and this is my current favorite.

Back in 1990 when a divisor was placed between baseball fans, I went the Thomas route, rather than the way of Griffey. As a kid, I loved pulling Griffey cards because they were a surefire trade for some good Thomas material. I'm sure I've wasted some investment potential, but I'm still a huge Thomas collector.

Got to love both the big hurt and junior. That's a nice minor league card, never saw it before.

Here are a couple of new additions to my Thomas collection...I totally didn't mean to hijack this thread.

Here's a card I've been searching for raw with potential or already grade PSA 10. Sold on eBay last night BGS 9.5 for less than $40...I almost bought it, except for the fact that the corners have subgrade 9. I just knew I'd crack it out and get a PSA 9 because of it. I might end up kicking myself for not taking the opportunity when I had it.

  • sorry, back in 1990-1993 or so, I chose to align myself with Frank Thomas.

And I was so happy that Big Frank kept is #1 spot on the Beckett "Hot List" for so long, with Griffey at #2.

    anyone else remember this?

I totally remember that, I loved it. Most kids my age were Jr. fans, but, this is going to sound funny, I was a chunky kid. I related to Thomas much more because of his domineering size. Not that he is in any way fat, but as a kid, I felt that Big Frank and I were on the same page.

Yes, I collect mainly the regular edition Topps cards but have a few Finest, etc. Here are some of his recent cards. Do you have a focus on your Griffey collection?

Not cards, but 10 years ago I bought a Griffey signed ball in Cooperstown. Still cherish it.

  • ajw,

In addition to my registry set I do have a fairly sizable raw Griffey collection
(5000+ items). I also have one of those super shoeboxes (3 rows wide)
filled with nothing but Thomas and Arod. Is there anything I can help you with?
