On whether the team needs a fire lit under it:
<<< ""I thought the emotion was there tonight. I thought we were off by a hair all the way around – both sides of the football, special teams and coaching. We're off by an inch and we have to fix it and close that gap."" >>>
Reid isn't getting it or doesn't want to get it. He's knows the pat answers to give to reporters but isn't doing it. No question in my mind that his family problems have caused him to lose focus on this football team which can't be better illustrated than a simple lack of preparation in having a decent punt returner in place for the first game - that's a fundamental error that high school football coaches usually don't make. When you see that, you know that other things are likely not being taken care of as well.
Reid stated in the off season that he almost quit due to family problems, but I think another reason is he saw this losing coming, especially with McNabb. This season of course is already over - this type of football team is not going to rebound from an 0 - 2 start, and even if they miraculously did, without a bye week, this type of team isn't going to the Super Bowl anyway.
No doubt Reid will stick it out, he's in no danger whatsoever of being fired, and it's time to rebuild a bit in which the first step was obviously taken with drafting Kevin Kolb. As a long suffering Eagles fan, this certainly isn't anything new, going through a season early in the season already knowing you're out of it.
Of course I'll keep rooting for the Eagles in each game like the glutton for punishment Eagles fan that I am, but admittedly for this season as far as getting to the Super Bowl, it's now hopeless.

I think that is a part of what is happening, along with McNabb not being 100%. Reid does not seem to have his head in the game, and McNabb may not have the strength to get the ball downfield.
The Eagles will get to .500 the next two games.
