So I had a really good day at the pawn shop.... Silver hoard! Lotsa pics!!!

Killing some time today, between appointments and thought I would drop in at a Pawn shop and look for some silver coinage.
JACKPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
286 90% silver quarters mostly washingtons but a few standing liberty's price paid $1 each
114 90% silver halves mostly frankies, but 6 kennedy's and about 40 walking liberties price paid $2 each
10 40% silver halves price paid $1 each
28 silver dollars peace and maybe 8 morgan dollars price paid $9 each (almost melt on that one)
16 buffalo nickels and war nickels mixed price paid .25 each
Total paid $776 dollars, easy melt value over $1400 cha ching...........................................
I kept looking around for the hidden camera and Marty and his chicken to jump out and say PSYCHE.
The clerk said they have been laying around the back of the store forever, but no one ever asks about coins. he simply looked at what they paid for them way back when and said he could sell it for double.
I thought about haggling, then I just whipped out the cash, and got out of dodge. I was shown the old purchase receipt and ticket it was from 1985.
What are the chances of that?
This makes up for searching thru $2350 worth of halves last week and not getting any.
There are a few nice pieces, including a 1932 washington, alot of nice 56, 57 quarters, definately uncirculated. A real nice 1886 morgan in xf with sweet rim toning.
Makes up for the money I lost in the poker game last night. LOL

Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
Some 8 year old kid could have come out of nowhere and said "Hey, silver is worth at least 8x face!"
<< <i>I'm just glad you didn't pull out a camera to take a picture with a phone before the sale was final.

Worth anymore than melt?
A little birdie says there may be some silver on the b/s/t soon.

i feel a pawn shop is fair game for a rip. nicely played!!!
I hope you gave him your card with explicit instructions to call you should he come across any other silver or gold coins. Nice find!
<< <i>So you are telling us that you took advantage of a small business owner, the lifeblood of our economy? How do you sleep at night?

<< <i>It's a minor YOU SUCK, now if there would have been a 93-S in there.... >>
No luck with that half, there were not any Barber halves at all.But there is a 93-s Morgan but it is pretty beat up didn't even bother to photo it.. O well. It was so bad I just tossed it in the junk silver box, with the dateless buffs, and war nickels.
And yes I am kidding!
I bet they were happy to see them go.
Was the pawn shop owner drugged out?
Tyler
<< <i>That is a pawn shop owner who is due to go out of business. You got that silver at about half the going rate.

Not sure if the person I dealt with was the owner or not. If it wasn't I am glad they were not trained properly. LOL
He got the bag, looked at the price they paid, doubled it and I said sold.

<< <i>Unfortunately, all the pawn shops in my area pay attention to bullion values and then mark the stuff up from there. Way up.
