Teletrade win? Opinions 1874 seated dime

image

I got this well under my max bid. $230 was my winning bid. Am I missing something? It looks to be on the PCGS charts at $340 for au
This coin is au58 and toned.

I hope I like it as much as the photos. Maybe there wer too many people watching football?

So what do you think?

I had that one on my watch list. I'm just trying to be a little more selective on my purchases. It's a nice example but the dull blue didn't work for me. Hopefully more vibrant in hand. image

I think you got a steal. I had that one on my watch list as well, but forgot the auction was running. Had I remembered you would have paid a lot more.

It looks like a great coin in the pics.

I hope it is even nicer for you when you get it in hand.

If that went for $230 plus juice then maybe the market is even starting to falter for the nicer stuff.

Good time to be building up a fund to buy nice coins should they continue to drift lower.

I put in a max bid of $360 which I did not think was enough, then I went to play cards. It was a pleasant surprise to see I won and especially at that price.

It will look nice with my other toned dimes.

Nice coin that I am sure will look even nicer in hand, base don my observations of TT photos and the coins that get delivered (or were consigned). I think this one just managed to fall through the cracks amd you were the lucky person to get it. Happens sometimes.

You won it for just over Greysheet AU50 money without really approaching MS60 money. In my opinion, this price might simply be a case of low auction viewership or involvement, but it might also have more to do with the fact that most folks buy a WA seated dime as a type coin and there are four "generic" coins that match this description. Therefore, the date pressure that might be associated with the coin is somewhat alleviated. Additionally, my interpretation of the images is that they were obtained with lots of light and I would expect the coin to be darker and more dull in-hand. This would preclude a bid by me even if I were interested in the date. Lastly, could it be that folks factor in the TT fees to return a lot if the lot image in question is difficult to interpret? If so, then this coin could have been a victim of that hesitance.

Others have commented that they like the coin, but if I were in the market for an AU example I know I would have kept looking without a second thought.
