Are any of you really suprised? That cheating incident had little to nothing to do with our dominating style of play.

Madden said it best...Offense calls the play well before the defense is evident or the defensive play call is even made. The illicit information is useful only if reacting to (audible) that D. Probably about the equivalent of counting cards in blackjack - which helps you on only a couple of hands an hour (at best). Still wrong to cheat, but advantage gained is minimal.

edit: not that I'd ever count cards...image

  • I knew the game was over after the first series of plays. I turned the TV off 5 minutes into the game. Looks like I didn't miss much.

It's such a waste that the Chargers have so much talent but can't seem to do anything with it.

I believe the Pats will wear a chip on their collective shoulder this season and show the rest of the NFL what they are capable of. Too bad for the rest of the NFL.

Yeah, did you see the players go up to Belichick right after the game was lost? It was very evident they were trying to say "This one's for you, coach". This is going to be a rallying cry for the Pats all season long. It's made very good even better.

I'm not denying that they would've probably been good anyways, but if there's little to no advantage to the cheating then why do it? Bill clearly lied about misunderstanding the rule from what I have heard. Not only was he questioned about doing the same thing last year, but apparently the commish' contacted all of the owners personally before the season to make sure they understood the rule. Couple that with the fact that apparently he had a library of tapes and other information that's apparently questionable and could also be against the rules, it obviously indicates that collecting this information was more than a "little" helpful. I'm sure we'll never know the full extent to which they broke the rule.

All it takes is the knowledge of one call to change the outcome of the game. Further, I've never heard anyone EVER say that Madden said anything best image Again, I'm not like some who are trying to say this team might have never won a SB without this information. Just saying that I'm certain that he didn't cheat for no reason at all. There was an advantage gained here and certain close outcomes could have been different.

looks like more owners are coming forward wanting investigations. some news stories today and during last nights telecast that the monitoring of frequencies and wiring up defensive players with mics is something they are looking into as well. If they are found of doing anything else this season it should be a year's ban from the game for Belechick

More and more info keeps getting released. Again, we may never know the full extent to which the Patriots went to steal info, but if it gets much worse I'm not sure what will be done. If they have done half of what it looks like they may have done, I'd consider taking an NCAA stance on this and make them forfeit all of their victories from the time that it was established that this all started. There's so much info and speculation on further activities, it's unbelievable. It will be interesting to see what other evidence comes out. And for the record, I'm no hater of the Pats. I'm a Blue fan and like Brady. I thought their organization was the model for success in the NFL. Maybe there's a reason for it. If they're cleared of everything but what's been released... fine. If there's a lot more, melt those rings down gentleman.

  • 1st of all i will preface this statement..... Belichek was an idiot for flaunting the league office. That being said, open your eyes people.

Every team videotapes the opposing teams signs. It is done from the coaches boxes. Every team has a few guys writing down

what is signed in on every play. Every team picks the minds of players they pick up from other teams. I personally think Belichek should of been

suspended for 2 games in addition to what he got. BUT, dont penalize the players.
