With Foreign currencies up so much versus the US dollar.......

Should foreign coin collectors be buying US coins?

Depends on the country. There are world coins that will likely out pace the US market.

    You mean as an investment?

    Well.................why?
  • a lot of Russian, Polish, Greek and better Chinese coins are outpacing many US classics issues. if you look at recent world coin auctions (Heritage Long Beach, and the upcoming Goldberg auctions), you'll see some really strong prices for many world issues. I think the next couple years will be very strong for overseas buyers buying both US and better world coins: Britain, German states, Greek, Russian, Swiss, Chinese

Yes, theoretically a weak dollar should make US goods seem inexpensive abroad and help equalize the trade imbalance. That's if we still produced anything in this country and if we actually had fair trade agreements. You can't export something you no longer make into a country that won't let the product in, though.

What I think you'll continue to see more of is foreign collectors buying foreign coins in the US with dollars.

  • I would be buying more from US if I was not in the middle of selling my house and land and downsizing. I look forward to not having a mortgage or debts!
My coin collecting will be more interesting with the chance to visit more coin events around the world.

I think high end World coins from Great Britain, France, Poland and Russia were underappreciated, however, that trend has dramatically chaged over the past 5-7 years. Some series from this countries in high grade may be far more difficult to find than previously thought, however, it still takes collector interst and demend to make them move up. We have seen that, but not across the board, which means there is still upside potential
