Likely AT, Likely cleaned and scratched, and likely a slider.

it looks cleaned, dipped and re-toned.

  • at least the pics are decent enough so the educated buyer could make a reasonable assessment of the real grade.

  • It does look hairlined. The large scratches almost look like adjustment marks.

If the coin was in a major TPG holder I think it would be less of a risk.

I don't like the retone much.
  • With the lousy pic, it's impossible to tell if it's hairlined, and I don't like the obverse scratches, but it is a very high grade coin. The obverse die is in its fifth use here on O.120, having been previously used on 118, 126, 119, and 122. It would be used once more on O.121 where it falls apart with a lot of chipping.

However, look at the reverse and the sharpness of the central detail. You don't see that very often. I have no problem with it as a 63 except that it almost certainly would be in a better holder if it hadn't been worked on rather extensively.
  • Man I was getting ready to snap that one up till I saw where the decimal point was imageimage

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!
  • I am a newbe to this hobby but PCGS does not list an 1806 Capped Bust. It appears the Capped bust did not start until 1807. Now I probally am wrong but what say you all

The scratches are unfortunate, as is the stinky no-name slab (which could be remedied with a quick crackout), but I do like the coin. Sure, the toning is almost certainly secondary toning from an old album, but I find it attractive.

Nice coin, nasty plastic. Laughable label grade.

    You're correct, it's the seller that's wrong - it's a Draped Bust Half.
