Don't pay ebay for hosting photos, goto www.photobucket.com and open a free account. It is very easy to use and will build all the code and copy it to your clipboard.

I really doubt that the extra 15C per listing will cover the losses incurred by cutting out a lot of crappy coins. I think Ebay made this move for the betterment of the marketplace (which will ultimately make it to their bottom line).

Another solution is to use Auctiva for listings - you get more free photos than you could ever need, some OK templates, cheaper insurance if you choose to use their service, & a number of other pretty good features - & it's all free. I think Vendio is another one.

I am all for getting ridding of NNC and NTC and all the other stupid scams on ebay. I want to share with the board a good free photo hosting place. I would figure now you need at least 4 photos of every coin.

Does anyone know how SEGS is going to be treated?

I think for circulated Seated coins they are excellent for authenticating coins and as good as ANACS for grading

A few of the PCGS sellers I frequent on eBay already do full slab photos of the obverse and reverse, but I can see how it can be an extra hassle. I really only need the slab side with the insert as many have stated.

Photoshop will let you combine the images but it's an extra step and hassle if you have a lot of coins to sell. Perhaps some of the online ebay seller support sites will offer the photo merging capability online now.

open a second paint window the same way you opened the first one. have the the obverse open in one and the reverse open in the other. the white backround in the obverse window must be large enough to accept both images side by side. now copy and paste the reverse over the obverse in the first window. now drag it to the right and drop it so the edges meet. now just save it and your done.

Hmm, in addition to PCGS sometimes putting the grade and cert number on the reverse, the ANACS slabs have the grade on the obverse and the cert number on the reverse.

Security holograms also tend to be on the reverse.

Do you think eBay decided to require both sides for simplicity and to cover all their bases?

Your internet provider probably already gives you free online storage space. Comcast gives you about 20mb for example. Just put your photos in your online storage and reference them in the html code of your ad. You don't need to use ebay's picture services at all if you don't want to.

The best answer is buy a domain name and host your own images, I think. I have at least a thousand images that I use for eBay, other hobbies, personal (family photo's etc..). I'd be totally lost without my webhosting. And its cheap at $25 per year hosting fee's. If you use somewhere like domains410.com you can register your name for ten bucks or less a year. $35 total and no eBay hosting fee's and my images dont get deleted unless I want them to.

Exactly. I use photobucket (or my server space now and then) and HTML code. Only thing I have to pay for picture-wise is if I choose to use a gallery picture.

My opinion is you are limiting your lot's potential if you have a top tier TPG slab and you don't show it. Anyone can say it is PCGS or NGC and just show the coin and perhaps a hint of the plastic. People want to see the tag. (Yes, I know that can be photoshopped easily to deceive.) Not sure why they insist on front and back images, but they can be combined into a single image anyway. That's how I always do it. Large enough to make out the assigned gradea dn then have a pair of obverse/reverse shots in larger size so people can reasonably assess the coin itself. Can use their service or self-host the photos. I prefer to pay the multiples of fifteen cents unless I want t track the IP addresses of those viewing the page. Let them use eBay's bandwidth and their clustered servers.
