A compendium of noteworthy Numismatic Biographies.

Does any such volume exist??? There are many important Numismatists from the past which should have readily available biographical information, yet nothing can easily be found, and when something is located it is generally vague. I would think someone somewhere would have compiled something, does it exist anywhere?? Thanks.

The book that Tom Delorey referenced is titled "American Numismatic Biographies", by Pete Smith, 1992, Gold Leaf Press (Division of Money Tree), Rocky River, OH. It contains more than 1400 biographies between its softcovers, and is almost 2" thick. Only 75 softbound copies were produced. I refer to my copy repeatedly in daily research, and would not be without it. Other than the usual numismatic booksellers, I would suggest contacting Myron Xenos at Money Tree Press to locate a copy at:

There is a comprehensive book in the works but it will be quite a while before it is completed. (No, I'm not the author/editor - just a contributor.)

I believe Pete's working on another edition. This is one of his many numismatic passions and contributions to the hobby community.
