A few interesting observations after the end of play tonight.
1. The Yankees have the FOURTH best record in ALL of baseball and are fighting for their playoff lives
2. The BEST record in ALL of baseball resides in Boston with a .601 winning %. Hardly what you would expect from the best in the game for a particular year. Parity hits baseball ...
3. The Arizona Diamondbacks have the 6th best record in the game with a PUNY payroll ...... GOOD FOR THEM !!!!
4. The Seattle Mariners with a payroll TWICE the size of Arizona have SUNK LIKE A ROCK in the past few weeks
5. The St. Louis Cardinals have DISAPPEARED since the Rick Ankiel HGH story
Feel free to add more!

I will add to your #1: The Yankees are only 4 1/2 games from the best record in all of baseball and might excel to the best record yet.
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
<< <i>Personally I like #4 on your list the very best.
