2007 gold eagle price hike of $40 ????

some blogs say that the mint will hike the price of the 2007 uncirculated eagle by forty dollars?

can anyone verify this?

Gold was at $677 the day the Unc. were released. The price old Unc. was $749.

Figure $75 above a current price and gold at $710. I'd say $790 might be about right. They probably want to keep it under $800.

HOWEVER,

1/2 oz proof is $399, the 'old' price of the Unc. was $379. Not much wiggle room there.

If prices stay the same, the Mint will lose money
If prices are increased, the Mint will not receive as many orders as expected

Best thing to do is "put up a sign said no longer available"

I agree, just be done with it. Work on all the other products they have going.
