Look what I got in change today
 of 4-17-04 004.jpg)
My wife (she was driving) and I pulled through the McD's drive through today (1st time in many weeks) and ordered a 99 cent burger and a drink. My change was 3 cents and I told her to drop it in the Ronald McDonald slot. As usual, she paid no attention to me and said, "Oh look, a Wheat cent". I'll give it a acetone bath and see what it looks like. Got it in DFW, TX area.

After the acetone bath and a little MS70. What looks like white residue is just the light reflection.

I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.

I wish I was that lucky.
Too bad it was probably pilfered in the past
It appears to still have die polish lines, and is blast white.
I'm amazed how nickels survive for decades. Looks to be AU.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks too nice to have been circulated over a long period of time.
Found a nice 1947-D wheatie with a bit of toning showing through the dirt & grime!
<< <i>Just for that.... you made me go and empty all the change out of the bottom of my purse (I usually use plastic, so it takes many months to accumulate a handful) - glad I did though!

ME too but it was not my purse and my wife is going to kill me.
Hoard the keys.

Wait a minute, were you serious?

Um...... I did when I was very young. Then, I was off to the carnival with two rolls of merc's and a handful of Walkers.

Cool find!
Excuse the so, so pics
(And I thought the 99-cent double cheeseburger was the best bargain one could get at McD's!)
