    Sorry - it's not a doubled die, but the common "ejection" or "mechanical" doubling
    that is very very common on most Mercury Dimes, as well as most other coins of
    all denominations.

    Thanks Fred, I thought it might be mechanical doubling since I couldn't find any reference to it in any text, but it's nice to get an expert opinion.
