Player set question

I have asked this question of customer servie and got an answer that was a little uncomfortable for me personally. I understand their point, but I do not embrace it. I do not colelct many player sets but have a few listed and will be listing a few more. I know that this torques off the player set people that a "set guy" lists player sets but that is not my point. This is in the consistancy of the listings. During the 60's, Topps issued a lot of card that had "panels" of multiple cards within the same cards (eg. 61 & 62 BB Stamps, 69 FB 4 in 1's, etc.). These were meant to be seperated for whatever purpose. As more of a purist I collect only the panels since if I have a panel set, I have a card set and don't see a lot of purpose to buy them twice. I view the individuals as damaged.
When I go to the players sets, some require both the panel and the single for the set, some do not. I would prefer to be panels only but I can live the other way with only the single. Do we really consider them different enough to include both? I would just like consistancy between sets. Customer service says it is up to the collectors to decide which way it will be for each set leaving them different.
Anyone else with thoughts on this?
