9, though centering is not perfect it still could be graded a 10.
  • Try this on.....It came back............ ---- 6 --- .............!
  • WOW! That's a sweet looking card. You made me go back and check what qualifies for a 6. Seems like they must have spotted something to drop it from what appears to be a strong 9 all the way down to a 6. I've had a few unexpected 5's, but eventually always found a wrinkle.
  • you must have got that card from a factory set, check the back, it has a wrinkle

I've got 2 Roger Clemens' that are identical. They look absolutely pristine. They are both 6's.

  • If it's from a factory set, check the right or left middle edge for a very subtle ripple. That seems to be common on some factory set shrink wrapped packs. Donruss put them into 55 card lots I believe and shrink wrapped them for the factory sets as I'm sure you know.

Maybe that's the issue with your Ryan card.

I've had a Clemens with this same edge problem and received the magic PSA 6 grade also.

Your card looks like a 9 or 10 from the scan. Hard to judge any surface issues from a scan.

Yeah, probably a tiny wrinkle going into the card from one of the corners due to the factory sealing process. I picked up a 1985 Donruss factory set a while back and everything in the first brick had matching wrinkles. image I've seen the same thing in a brick from a 1987 Donruss Factory set, and in a pair of 1987 Donruss Highlights sets.

Also, a while back, I picked up a 1600 card lot of loose 1986 Donruss "The Rookies" cards. I guess the guy who sold it cracked a few cases of the stuff looking for Bonds, Jackson, and Canseco cards. I scrapped about a third of the lot due to the corner wrinkles.
