Mr. Cub: Before & After

We had a lot of rain here in the midwest. Lots of flooding. This one almost was lost forever. It started out toned with some emulsion issues that were minor.
There was also some content that was extraneous around the edges (a catcher and an upire) that needed to be cropped or cloned out to allow the Baby Ruth sign to be seen. Some color adjustments and some light tonal layering, this thing came out gorgeous! If you have old or lightly damaged negatives laying around that you want to have restored or sold, give me a shout. I buy almost all well composed pre-1980 sports and americana.
I know there are some Cub fans here that would like a peek at this Banks. I'll post a Billy Williams later when I finish it. It is from the same group of negatives--same game.

<< <i>DGF, please don't take offense to this, but you're like the friend everybody has that goes to a party, gets raging drunk and tries to fight people, acts totally insane telling everybody he hates them, and shows up a few days later and pretends like nothing happened. >>
Don't worry, I'm sure he still hates you.
I cropped it from 2:3 ratio to a 20x24 gallery print. That makes it appear closer--good observation on your part. It's like a "zoom". I might take it back just a touch to include a better perspective on home plate. I noticed here that home plate is really far right.
Cd's,
Did we have a fight? Seriously. Did we? First, I never get drunk, and would likely not go to a party where the likes of many here might attend. I post stuff here for the few higher evolved adults involved who appreciate the unique glimpses I offer. You will never please everyone in life, son. Some people, you will never please regardless of how hard you might try. Second, you--and please don't take offense--no precious little about me. To my knowledge, we have never met. I'm confident if we did, we would get along great and have no issues at any such party. In order to fully appreciate the issues of late, you would have to actually do some research about the parties involved and any exchanges that may have taken place prior. For example, how they were instigated &/or initiated, etc.
Your involvement, as I understand it, is likely that of an unenlightened bystander who is swayed by the inflammatory rather than fact or objectivity. I hope we haven't had a fight. If we did, it must've been foolish on my part, as I don't remember it. Sorry 'bout that if that's the case. As far as I and the reasonable intelligent populous is concerned, "nothing DID happen" and this post is relevant only to Mr. Banks and those who enjoy photography, technology and appreciate this type of art.
Thanks for your input,
PA

At the very least, I would expect someone to come back with "Sorry for saying that stuff, Perry brings out the worst in me," or "I didn't write that, Perry made it up," or even "I was drunk and lost it." Hell, I would've even accepted a "yeah, I wrote it. So what." But nothing. Instead you come to show us your next masterpiece without so much as responding to the fact that you were quoted as saying such ridiculous things as "I teach Sunday school and have the first-graders actually thinking I'm THE Phillip Apostle," while rattling off your resume as to why you are such a great person. To be honest, I was actually looking forward to your response as a completely objective observer who would wonder how someone could actually believe the things you wrote about yourself.
Up until that point, I believed you were an asset to the board and although I'm not into photography, I've enjoyed some of the stuff you've posted. But if you're posting stuff here with an "I want to share" mentality, then PM-ing people "I am so great, you're crap" rhetoric behind the scenes, I find that somewhat two-faced. In fact, it leads me to believe your sole reason for showing us your photos is for us to validate your undaunting belief that you are such a great person with so many talents, almost like someone would come here to show their 52 Mantle or T206 Wagner just to get evereyone to tell them how great they are.
Please don't misinterpret as me wanting to argue with you. I (and others) just really found what you wrote to pandrews in a PM to be one of the more ridiculous things posted on this board, and found it curious that you didn't respond. That's all.

they were initiated by you being completely crazy..

"Know this; the next time something bad happens to you---flat tire, boyfriend cheats on you, stub your toe, you lose your job, have a stroke, lose a loved one, I'll be laughing somewhere and taking great comfort in your misery. "
Are those really your words DGF? That is what was really shocking to see someone say.
This makes things better? I don't think so.
The second part is correct. I can't really say that I'm sorry though. Sadly, that's actually how I feel. I'm not happy about it but, hey, it is what it is. I also knew very well that the PM would be shared. I was just done with that thread altogether and simply moved on for closures sake. I haven't even pulled it up since.
These things, I suppose, have just gotten out of hand and are no longer productive or even humorous. If pandrews is the type of guy this message board has become-so be it.
Consider today a changing of the guard.
Make no mistakes, he satrted the entire process. He is and has always been the initiator. If the rest of you are too short-sighted or lazy to realize that, again--so be it.
I will indeed bow out. It's fine. I've spent more time on here than I should have anyway. The funny thing is, as soon as something goes well with a baseball image or something of the like, the first folks I have always thought about were guys like southerncards, goodsports, zef, and many others who just dig cool unique pics. It just seems everytime I post one these days--pandrews chimes in and starts it up again. Go back and do some homework. A handful of guys just start going bizerk.
I will be somewhere enjoying panda's misery though. That's the difference between me and the people I teach about at Sunday school, CD's, is that I am NOT holier than thou. I am not perfect or divine. You have likely thought the same thing about someone on an expressway MANY times--probably today--with far less provocation that I have recieved from your precious perry. The credentials of my time spent are authentic--for the record.
You have as much hatred as I in you. We all do. That's the whole point of the teaching. You are human. The difference is, I spoke mine. You choose to say absurd things like "Sunday school lessons about..." I will seek repentence in my own way and make things right. I always do. I just don't conform to the "mob" mentality of forums like this. I am an individual that is right there for you. I don't hide behind my keyboard. I say things in person the same way. I would guess perry would say very little in person. Let's leave it at that.
Keep in mind, you have no idea what you are talking about here. None whatsoever. You don't know me at all. You wouldn't even understand someone like me. Your comparisons to me disliking one man on a chat board who is constantly swinging away at me without cause with a drunk man spewing racial and ethnic slurs that degrade an entire faction of a civilized society without provocation proves as much. I stand by every single word of both my statements about perry as well as my PM to him. He is a bad person and has proven it to me on numerous occasions. My only hope is that he is an adult who is in arrested development and not the child he acts like. I would truly hate to have said those things to a kid. I assume he is a grown man. If not, I will have to rethink the whole thing altogether. My understanding is--regardless of how he acts--that he is a grow man. By the way if someone DOES PM me--and they have many, many times, I would never share the PM. That's what a PM is. He chose--as I predicted--to take our personal issues to the board. I was making an attempt to steer them away. Again, he couldn't stay away. He actually glories in this stuff. He is happiest when I'm miserable...sound familiar?
Let me drop this bomb before I go...you guys made fun of Michael Wentz. Not the easiest chap to like, I understand, but I liked him. He was an individual with an opinion and real flavor. I have had many differences with people here over the years. I am still friends with those guys. Guys like Wentz and myself--and a few others--are the real deal. We make chat boards exciting. We appeal to the mob mentality. The more intelligent people always do. They are the least understood. Most of you post follow-ups to be "in" the mix. To people like myself, you are actually doing the opposite. Nam, Winters, Rinck, Goner (great cards-by the way) are individuals. They just take things at face value and if it requires their attention, they respond accordingly. The rest of you just killed this thing for me.
My final attempt at levity: We all know baseball card collectors are geeks. Many of you graduated from high school without a hand job. That's a shame.
Be well and we'll see you on down the road! No hard feelings, even to pandrews.
I may post again--likely not. I certainly don't plan to unless I feel it is necessary. I won't post again for pleasure.
Just for the record, I know of at least three other people you've lashed out at for really stupid things, like asking you not to post pics of girls and keeping your sig line to a minimum. Personally, I would never ask someone to do something like that, but a simple "No I won't" or "Sure no problem" is usually the civilized way to handle that situation. Instead you chose to verbally assault the people that dared to ask you a simple favor you could either comply with or ignore.
Here's what you told meteoriteman (A nice guy by all accounts) after he explained the new sig line requirements to you:
Go piss in somebody else's pool, will you please? How 'bout a PM you obnoxious f'in loser. You are evrything I absolutely hate in the world. I swear, there is a group of guys here who just never got laid in college and are just too bitter about it.
I post some images for you to enjoy that don't exist elsewhere and enjoy telling stories about players and memories and generally feel-good stuff, and guys like you just barge in with that kind of stuff? You are a loser. Anything you write in response to this will fall short of sensible. Note, YOU handled this poorly and CHOSE to kick the hive. I am minding my business enjoying posting images for...
Here's what you said about board member TNP (another nice guy by all accounts) after he had the gall to not buy your precious Brett Butler photo:
While I'm ranting, How 'bout the big Brett butler fan on the boards that actually types in Butler in his eBay search, finds THE BEST--bar none!...BEST image of Butler on earth, totally original from the Atlanta Braves official photographer (he states it was his finest image of Brett that he ever took, mind you), I pop $100 bucks for the original film. Restore the color and clean the thing to gem mint condition, offer it for under $10, the guy likes it enough to post it on the boards and doesn't bid. What, exactly, was he looking for when he typed in "Brett Butler" anyway? It's his world, he's entitled to do whatever he wants, but that's just goofy. How many cards does Brett have? None are difficult to obtain. Theres game used equipment, I guess. I mean how many unique Butler items are there??? I would venture that the image I posted last week that went bidless is the rarest Brett butler item listed on eBay in history...he doesn't pop for $10 bucks???
I suppose if I took paypal he would have bid? I'm thinking, no.
This was about 10 minutes worth of looking at your posts, so I know there's more if I kept digging. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm a loser who's never had a blowjob or touched any female breasts in high school.
And for what it's worth, I get along famously with so-called "individuals" like nam, Boopotts, eyebone, stown, julen, etc....... And yes, even pandrews.
<< <i>Your comparisons to me disliking one man on a chat board who is constantly swinging away at me without cause with a drunk man spewing racial and ethnic slurs that degrade an entire faction of a civilized society without provocation proves as much. >>
speaking of drunken or psychotic ramblings, start reading about the 9th post down on this thread..
<< <i>That's the difference between me and the people I teach about at Sunday school, CD's, is that I am NOT holier than thou. I am not perfect or divine. >>
speaking of holier than thou, start reading the 5th post down in this thread.. where you say "I think at the end of the day, the reason I will no longer bother with this stuff is that I am actually smarter and more personable than the rest of you with few exceptions. It's hard when you offer more true insight than others and people can't think outside the proverbial box and a chat board mob mentality ensues. "
It's hard to fathom that someone can be so full of himself AND crap at the same time.
Why do I always feel that every couple months there is a thread that DGF says he will not post here and then inevitably he continues to. Am I the only one that gets that feeling?

I would still admire the sports pictures he posted the next day.

If that was really said, that is pretty f-ed up. Totally out of line and classless. I wouldnt even wish that on Gary.

Well Bob,
Right from the horse's mouth it seems he admits it and doesnt feel badly about it. Yup, pretty F-ed up.
"The answer was in the Patriots eyes. Gone were the swagger and c0ck sure smirks, replaced by downcast eyes and heads in hands. For his poise and leadership Eli Manning was named the game's MVP. The 2007 Giants were never perfect nor meant to be. They were fighters, scrappers....now they could be called something else, World Champions."
Phil, there is help for you out there. From one human being to another, I will pray that you find peace.
<< <i>I wouldn't care if DGF punched my mother in the cyber nose, kicked my dog in virtual reality and humped my wife in an instant message.

Yeah, that's pretty much where I come down, too.
I don’t have a dog in this fight; however, this is a card forum, if you don’t feel as though you are appreciated, then leave and never post again. I think you have fairly weak arguments. Continue to bash away at members on the board (which I may add I do not know well), but it makes you look pretty ridicules.
Have Fun
perry you are precious!!!!!
<< <i>I think PA (ndrews and Phil Apostle) are the same guy fighting with alter egos. Think about it! >>
But which one is really Kaiser Soze? Truthfully I like it when they are both posting, just not necessarily on the same thread.
