Question about Hostess cards.

I just won these off of ebay. I wanted them for my Phil Garner collection. Is it better to leave these alone or have them cut for grading? If thet should be cut, what is the best way to cut them.

  • I can tell you how not to cut them, I have a bunch of them that look like they were cut while on a roller coaster, I was about five years old and obviously was not very good with a scissors.

I tend to cut hand-cut cards out with a straight edge and razor. I have a paper cutter made with a sliding razor which works great. I don't like the lever style paper cutters because they tend to stress the corners of the card and cause flaking/chipping on the edges. I definitely wouldn't do it by hand with scissors.

I think I remember seeing some high grade examples on eBay a while back (may have been bazooka panels though), and I could still see the dotted line. I guess whoever cut them, cut just outside the dotted line leaving it still visible inside the PSA holder.
