USC and Hostess Team Up

Does the #1 team in the country really need a game against crapola Tech and a bye week before their HUGE clash against #16 Nebraska?
What a freaking joke!

  • And who did FSU beat last week? Oops I mean who did they lose to?

Didn't FSU play a cupcake I-AA team last year (Citadel)?

  • UAB is a powerhouse

FSU went on the road and played on prime time on a Monday..USC would never do that and how come those pansies escaped playing Wisconsin again?

Everyone is saying oh yeah USC is the best team in the country, but how can you really tell that?

  • I'm pretty sure all teams have to play some conference games on the road. Playing on a Monday is more admirable than a Saturday image

Oklahoma looks to be the #1 team - hanging 50something on the candy canes.
  • When is the last time FSU was even relevant in the national title chase?

Think it's time for the senile Bowden to hang em up and move on.

Meanwhile, USC reloads and moves on with another title chase.

Stalin, if there were some theoretical non-conference school that scheduled 10 road games against, say, the top two teams from each of the top 5 conferences, you'd whine about the fact that they had the gall to have a homecoming game. I'll readily admit that USC wasn't all that impressive in their opener, but you're in total denial if you can't see that FSU has indeed become irrelevant. And it has nothing to do with scheduling. Get over it.

yawiee....I mean you play at South Bend and then you don't make it over the Rockies again! Whats up with that? LSU playing Va Tech and rolling them.
No way USC is #1 come Monday, and if LSU runs the table there is no way USC can jump them. I would just love to see USC or OU or UF put it on the line
for once the first week of the season!

I guess if you claim to be a national champs, its nice to know that you beat real teams to get there and not just one team at the end! I would take a Seminole
3 or 4 loss season knowing we played not only the two top teams in our conf, but also the two top teams in the SEC!

I think Hostess and USC go hand in hand..maybe mix in a some little debby too! How come no Hawaii this year, did they look too tough?

I was just looking at South Florida's schedule....they play 4 teams in the top 20 and two in the top 8! Even they play a harder schedule than SC. what a joke

South Florida's just playing their conference foes. Big deal. Elon - Elon? - Auburn and UCF are no more substantial than USC's nonconference schedule of Idaho, Nebraska and Notre Dame. (And it's not our fault Notre Dame absolutely sucks this year.) I didn't do an exhaustive search but just glancing at a few of the top-ranked teams' games, I didn't see any program with a brutal nonconference schedule.

No doubt USC should lose some #1 votes come Monday, but I don't think they'll fall to #2. But it really doesn't matter at this point anyway. There's still a ton of football left to be played, and there's a decent chance the eventual national champion will be a 1-loss team. However, there's no chance it will be a 4-loss team, but good luck anyway on FSU reaching the lofty stratosphere of 8-4. I guess Chik-Fil-A Bowl berths have become the measure of success in Tallahassee nowadays.

USC and Wisconsin are not inthe same conference... USC has not escaped playing them unless they play in the Rosebowl.

USC does not have an easy schedule... Washington seems to have returned... they are 2-0. Cal and UCLA are both likely going to pull into the top 10 during the course of the season. Cal looked great agaonst Tennessee.

Oregon looks better than most folks thought they would be... great speed and a decent defense.

USC is worthy of their current ranking and it is quite possible they won't finish the season there with the schedule they have. If USC finishes the season unbeaten, they deserve to be national champs. Anyone that thinks it will be an easy road to the national campionship playing Washington in Seattle, Cal, UCLA and Oregon is just not paying attention.

edited to add: It seems Florida State had all they could handle with UAB. I think FSU won 34-24. Gee, last week Michigan State beat them 55-18...so much for schedules...

42-10 midway through the 3rd. Guess you were right after all, Stalin.

I turned it off at Half time in anticipation of what was to come... looks as if it was more of the same. SC's scoring drives in the second quarter was enough of an indication that the blow out was beginning to form.

  • It's hilarious that joey criticizes so many other team's schedule, then fails to acknowledge his own team's cupcake schedule - even funnier that FSU can't beat said cupcakes!

USC played a top 15 team last night and absolutely owned them on the ground. Came out and punched them right in the mouth, then punched them again, and again, and again. Over 300 yards on the ground, averaging over 8 yards a carry.

    Where's joey now?
