Jim Thome

With the topic of steroids popping up here a few times today I figured that I'd throw Jim Thome out there. Who else thinks that his 495 HR's are just a bit suspect. Maybe I'm being a bit harsh here but I never really considered him to be a all time great. To see that he has more homers than Gehrig , Musial , Stargell and Yaz is just mind boggling. To me he has always been a minor star at best. Very similar to all time roid master , Rafael Palmeiro. Thome also has a jump in homers starting at the height of roid use in 1996. A even greater jump can be seen from 2001-2004. Like I said maybe I'm being a bit harsh because I admit to not having really followed him that closely , but man his career sure looks suspect to me. Even if he is roid free I think that he is definitely not deserving of hall of fame entry.

AGREED!!!!!!!!! What I think is funny, everyone wants to discount an athlete and say he is no good... BLAH BLAH BLAH, when sooner than later it will be found that 80% of proffesional althetes used at least HGH.......IMO.
  • I actually agree. It's just that I never see his name mentioned for some reason. I think a lot of people have to acknowledge the fact that hitting stats of today and the past twenty years or so are influenced way more by the horrible over saturated bush league pitchers of today than any steroid or growth enhancing substances. Come to think of it doesn't that make a admitted steroid user even more pathetic because he needed a "boost" to hit crap pitching.

This is not too far from the truth.

Being an athlete at a small NAIA school, this poster saw plenty of that going on in the dorms on a daily basis. Funny when a 175-pound free safety is bench pressing six plates.

It was not uncommon to find a syringe or two in dormitory bathrooms.

If it was occurring there, it most certainly was happening on a broader level, as well.

I like steroids. I can do my work faster and better than every other lawn guy in town.

The only problem is that stupid asterik my customers put by my name on all my checks image
  • Yes, Matt. I agree. Steroids make me a much more productive 6th grade teacher.

My students' standardized test scores are among the best in the country when I'm on the juice.

I, too, have dealt with the *asterisk* shame for years.

Every morning I am greeted by angry parents and civic leaders carrying nasty placards and picket sticks.

I take steroids constantly. Inject them right into my daily bran muffin. You should hear how loudly I type at work now. People in the cubicles around me have had to requisition ear plugs. Oh sure, they whine and moan about my unfair advantage and how if they were juicing they could write lots of memos and prepare more TPS reports . . . but like they always say, if you ain't cheatin', you ain't trying.

And just to make sure these sniveling mouth-breathers wouldn't keep sending management demands that my output should not be measured against theirs I went and removed the #8 keys (you know, the ones that make that one symbol) from all their keyboards . . . I didn't forget to take the one from the 10-key portion of the keyboard either . . .
