1954 Aaron as seen on recent circular of memory lane

with centering of 2/98 top/bottom, how could it be a mint 9?

Someone please explain!
have just these left, ALL OF 1975 mini set: brett: bvg 8.5, rose psa 8, ryan psa 7, bobby bonds and carl yastrzemski both at psa 8 but will get reviewed, and ungraded fred lynn rookie that i won't get graded as it'll only be a 7 to 8, and the following i plan to get graded: reggie jackson, 1962-mvp card, 1967 mvp card, hank aaron

How did my post get up there ?? Oh well ....

  • i'll scan it later tonight unless someone beats me to it. I had hoards of cards that were off-centered with perfect corners that I'd send in but realizing the best grade I could get was a 5 or 6. I don't understand how someone got away with a 9 for this card. in my opinion, memory lane shouldn't have shown it for it exposes something unsavory about the grading industry.

    No, the grading industry unsavory?

    54's didn't have a top white border.

It does have a tilt to it, though...
  • Sounds like toomers didn't know that 54's don't have top white borders. But that tilt is damn ugly.

To toomers credit that may not be the card he is talking about, But it was the only 9 I found in Mammary Lane auction.

  • The tilt really doesn't bother me. I think it looks worse than it is because not only is the picture on the card tilted, but the card itself is tilted (to the right) inside the case.
  • Another interesting question is How the heck did my post get to be first in this thread ??
You mean I actually posted the response before the question was asked , Man, I'm good.

  • well, that shows what little I know of 1954 cards. i am not into 1950's cards and so what I saw seemed remarkable to me. thanks for the clarification and also of the enlarged scan that clearly shows that i am wrong about the 2/98 that I was guessing at as there was a reflection from the holder.

the tilt seems like the major point here is all.

But it isn't. Even at it's worst, it is still within specs for PSA 9 centering. Want to try again?

    Everyone starts from the begining.

The tilt bugs me too, but I'm sure that if I were the submitter, I'd love it....

Wow, the centering goes from 45/55 at the bottom to 60/40 at the top!

Card shows a slight titlt but is well within the parameters for a PSA 9.
