HOW IMPORTANT IS "NOTICE" REALLY?

In the style of Modman, I ask this question.
So, it now appears that special registry sets will be created in the next 30 days by PCGS to make Boone, Arkansas, Texas, Oregon, BTW and/or Wash Carver sets stand alone Registry sets. All collectors did not get 72 hours notice or even 1 week notice. They appear to have gotten up to 30 DAYS NOTICE!! So, who cares? Will there be a mad rush on Arkansas pieces this week? Will my Wash Carver in PCGS-MS67 I had been advertising on ebay for the past month now quickly sell? Will this advance notice matter one bit?? Is this whole argument about "notice" really "form over substance". Just another issue to "rag" on the grading companies about with really "no teeth" to it? Will this 30 day notice mean ANYTHING? Wondercoin.
EDITED TO ADD BOONE!

Yes a notice is important. Not so much in this case. This is adding entirely new sets. The notice is wanted for changing the rules for existing sets. But even in this case the notice is nice for someone who may want to compete in one of these new sets, and get a jump on some of the pieces they would need for it.
Wait for them to give notice of a change in one of the popular existing sets, and see what the reaction is to determine if a notice is appreciated.
1) You will get some inquiries on the 53s in 7. Good luck, although I know you really don't want to part with it. It's that nice.
2)30 days is more than adequate. How much more cooperation can we ask for? Thanks, Mitch and the pcgs braintrust.
I think this shows they heard us/you/them/everybody, and "get it", even with existing sets.
3)The omission of the Boones was just unintentional.
Perfect, Mitch. Another Yee Haw and a Yahoo too.

I agree strongly with dbldie55. Advance notice of a new set isn't really necessary at all (but if you can find out when Typetone's Basic Type Set is coming, I'll take that info). However, adding varieties or changing the composition of existing Sets needs some notice.
Right now, for ongoing sets, collectors have a year to get their current year piece before they start counting. Adding the varieties to the Washington quarters did more to upset the rankings than waiting for collectors to add their 2001 state quarters.

Personally I think the whole thing could be largely solved by whoever is the PCGS' decision maker posting a thread here about pending changes and giving everyone a chance to weigh in with opinions.
That guy reads them over, then makes the call. If you don't like the decision, you at least know someone at PCGS heard your concerns. At that point you love it or leave it. Finis.
Good job on the Commemorative SubSets! That'll spark interest in the whole series.
Please though- NO sub sets for the Modern Commemoratives! Promise?

How would everyone feel if the following were added as manditory (not optional) to their sets for example?
Modern Type Coin (1900-present): $20 St. Gaudens Type 1 High Relief
Franklin Halves: 1951-S Double(d) Die
Ikes: 1972-P Type I, II, and III (especially since PCGS doesn't recognize these yet)
Lincoln Cents: 1936 DDO Type I and II
etc....
I know I would be extremely peeved if the 1951-S DD was added to the Franklin Registry without reasonable (and that doesn't mean 72 hours) notice.
Didn't this just happen to the MS Washington quarters? I think its outrageous to spring changes like that on current Registry collectors without some warning!

It does make a difference to those that care about the quality of the coins they include in their set. 30 days would give someone a chance to search out and buy the right coin.
I think it makes the most difference to those whose sets are 100% complete and are at the top of the rankings. It would not be funny to be in 1st or 2nd or 3rd one day, and fall in the rankings because of the surprise addition of a newly-required coin.
