Buy a coin with PVC contamination?

Not sure which bothers me more, the PVC contamination or an ANA dealer with 32 years experience who either doesn't recognize it or chose not to disclose it.

My current example is VF and this one does have XF details. I don't know though... looks like it's in a 2X2 now, so if the oil has dried acetone alone won't remove the green slime. Might need some rubbing with a q-tip, or worse (a dip, which never looks right on a circulated coin.) image

How can you tell with certainty that it is PVC contamination?

Because it's only where the coin was in contact with the flip and I've seen it so many times before it's fairly obvious to me now.
  • Maybe the ANA dealer knows more about this than you do and there is nothing wrong with the coin. Can you be 100% certain from a pic???

A person who buys crude fakes isn't qualified to comment on the subject.
  • Wow, that was quite a insult!!!

I only posted here to warn others yet you try and appear to be the all-knowing one who says that everything is alright. You can tell pvc contamination from a pic more accurately than a 32 year member of the ANA, you know for a fact that all pandas are real and you probably think that yours is the only opinion that matters.

Part of the reason for these boards to exsist is to try and help each other. I have seen many many fake pandas and I merely wanted to warn possible buyers to be careful.

How many pandas do you own??

    Please post some pics.

How could you possibly educate anyone when you can't recognize obvious fakes or plain-as-day PVC contamination?

Perhaps you should educate yourself first.
  • Oh, the Great OZ has spoken!!!

    You're a joke

Your ego is clearly much bigger than your brain.

  • I posted here to share an experience with others so that they may have some knowledge of some of the pitfalls of buying pandas.

You immediately proclaim yourself to be the almighty and ridicule me for getting sucked into buying a fake.

You are obviously a great god of wisdom, you've never made a mistake and you certainly would never post here to help someone.

You are a conceited as* but maybe when you hit puberty you will change.

  • Why don't you immediately e-mail the seller of this pvc damaged coin and MAKE him remove it. After all, you are the high and mighty know-it-all. How dare they post something which you question.

Guys, stop with personal attacks. The tone of this thread does not befit these boards.

That was a pretty low blow.
MS66 taste on an MS63 budget.
