Saxony 1 Thaler 1871-B. Commemorating Germany's victory in the Franco-Prussian War. Mintage of only 45,000 pieces.
I received this coin today and it's utterly amazing. Color notwithstanding, this piece is the perfect example of why AU58s are so great. Sans the rub on the cheek and jawbone, this coin has the characteristics of a much higher grade. Infinitely better (in my opinion) than what you see in an MS60-62, most of which tend to be trashed.
This piece is now one of the centerpieces of my toner collection.

I had been the underbidder on eBay back in early July and the winner was also a member here. Last week he contacted me saying he was looking to raise funds to acquire a new piece, and was I interested in purchasing the piece at his original buy price.
Even though the coin sold for strong money, it's a rather unique looking example of the type. I figured that given the small mintage, the odds of finding as nice or as colorful a specimen is virtually nil.
